The radical left, after eight years of having their favorite programs stifled, have essentially threatened to withdraw all support for the new administration unless all their core programs are included in the new spending bill before Congress.

The new President is under seige from those who want to create an, 'entitlement' society wherein government basically runs the economy and distributes the funds to those determined needful by Congress.

The left labor unions are demanding an end to the 'private vote' in their attempt to revive a failing and corrupt labor union influence.

The left demands billions directed toward increasing teacher's salaries and hiring new teachers in a failed school system.

The left wants money for the Arts and increased taxes on business and industry.

The left demands an open acceptance of Homosexuals into all walks of life, public and private alike; demands world wide abortion on demand. In other words, the Left has a social agenda it demands be placed into effect, regardless of the so-called, stimulative effect of nearly a trillion dollars, which is really a gigantic spending program to enforce the Left agenda on the Public.

The far Left should realize they occupy but a small percentage of the public at large and the question is, will the new President bow down to their demands, reject them out of hand, or take a middle course as did Slick Willie.

I'm so tempted to say, "Always bet on black."

Trouble is, who is leading this country? Him, or the radical left in Congress? If not him, then why is he president? And if he's the one leading, I'm very concerned about the future.

I am reminded of an episode of "West Wing". where the issue was a definition of, 'Hate Crimes', it was all going the administrations way but they were forced to postpone implimentation of the measure as a 'trade-off', to another wing of the party.

I think we do not yet know just "who is leading...'

Yes indeedy...the rubber has definitely met the road...The Chosen One just bent a knee to the EU over protectionisim...which the unions were seeking to enhance their status...his cabinet nominees skeletons have cascaded from the closet, with more to come...an increase (minor) in the military budget is in the offing...the pork bloated 'stimulus' package is coming under scrutiny, and will be whittled down. The left is rapidly becoming hydrophobic.

The left-wing blogs are turning on him like rabid bats...and so is his security blanket, the press. His hundred days will seem like ten thousand before all this is over. It's windy at the top.

Hopefully, the "Gang of 14" will be revived, maybe with some additional recruits, and a corresponding group in the House. Pelosi and Reed should not be allowed to pay off their constituencies with pork.

Anyone who ever thought Obama was anything other than a politician should be sobering up about now.

He can still foment and advance a vision, but there are no miracles in sight.

Just the start of a long, slow, and difficult march. ;)

THE KNEE-PAD PRESIDENT

If every special interest gets what they want, this nation is doomed.

Every month we lose 500,000 more jobs. In terms of taxes, its a ton of money going out but not coming in. Financial analysts forecast America losing 1/2 the money we need to pay the bills. So the lack of money will kill much of the liberal agenda.

The other sword hanging over the Democrats is the 2010 election. If Obama and the Usual Suspects are too obsessed with the plight of America's Carnival Freaks, they'll catch Hell at the polls. Some political analysts are already hoisting the Civil Unrest Warning Flags.

SLICK

Obama's #1 problem is how he gets defined in the public's mind. Pelosi already acts like the Unofficial President, and if Obama acts like her flunkey-nigger, its all over for him. He runs the real risk of becoming President Steppin Fetchit.

Was he the dolphin that escaped in that movie... ?

All politics need radicals to shift the centre point of policy, you've had right wing radicals for the last ten years, now you have left wing radicals. Suck it up, your turn to change policy comes around again in four years.

Nancy and Harry, with nearly 45 years of Washington experience between them, will use President Obama like a two dollar whore.

Anyone who thinks the pork laden, 647 page, $1.2 TRILLION stimulus bill suddenly just sprouted is delusional. These are plans the liberals have had setting ready to go just waiting for the time when they gained control of congress and the White House.

The CBO estimates the stimulus will have negligible effect on unemployment by 2011. The package will support spending for years beyond that. The problem is once a bill is passed it is almost impossible to stop. Remember the $60 telephone tax rebate you got a couple of years ago. That was from a tax to help pay for the Spanish American War. Remember the Maine!

Pelosi and friends wrote the spending bill, does that give you a hint?

Why wasn't this President smart enough to produce his own bill and give it to Congress?

Actually, I believe it is a Constitutional requirement that all such bills originate in the House.

Hopefully, he will make so many changes as to constitute his own bill.

So basically, you're all afraid he'll act like a republican?

Spending bills do originate in the House, but most Presidents in the last 30 years or so submit an outline of what is acceptable. This piece of pork was crafted entirely by Pelosi and friends. How do paybacks to Unions stimulate the economy?

Sorry but a true "Stimulus" bill would produce 500,000 jobs for every $Billion!

Not to disagree with what you are saying, but I think you have a misplaced comma. If one billion dollars produces 500,000 jobs, that would mean that 100 billion dollars would produce fifty million jobs. Nobody is that optimistic.

Not exactly. All pols distribute pork, but to different recipients. What we are saying is that Pelosi et al want to give handouts to their buddies, which willl produce little benefit to the country as a whole. The Reps would rather give the handouts to their friends, which would probably produce more jobs. Of course, this is an unprecedented idea, and nobody knows what will happen.

amusing, this 'far left' effort

Far Left Holds New Administration Hostage!

this is quite odd, since there are no 'far left' people in the US Congress, nor in Obama's new cabinett.

let's remember that out in Human Events/AnnCoulter/baby-rush-amicus territory, Ted Kennedy is 'far left.'

core programs of the far left include distribution of condoms in African areas of prevalent AIDS infection. oh, and one program the House republicans want dropped from the 'stimulus package' would have given more funds for STD research by the Center for Disease Control.

it's fortunate that baby rush amicus is watchful. a core program of us bolsheviks is to undermine the moral fiber of America by lowering the rate of teen-age pregnancies, through contraception. this, of course, is transparent cover for a PRO promiscuity effort to defile the flower on young womanhood in the US.

I did the math.

900 BILLION DOLLARS will fund 18 MILLION jobs at 40K per job. Or 9 MILLION jobs @ 80K per job. But they have no intentions of paying every unemployed person 80K. They'll barely cover 1/3rd of the people on unemployment.

So whats the money going for?

Its going to the elites.

You sound like a bunch of little old ladies.

Oh sure, because it's worked so well in the past, right?

Lol.

I don’t know how anyone can think that Obama is leading. What was that opt ed piece in the Washington times? Why don’t we freak everyone out, that way we can spend $920,000,000,000 on what? Who knows but we can spend it as we see fit. Why is it that only 16 senators are working out this spending white elephant? What happened to bring America together?

So if I don’t pay my taxes this year, does that qualify me to work for Obama?

So far its like Obama 1.0 is really Bush chapter 3!

I would that the party was over and the hang over has just begun.

Obama thinks 4 million jobs a year is a big deal, except that our economy averages 2.5 million new jobs every year. So spending $800 billion for 1.5 million jobs is stupid at best.

If they took the two lowest tax rates and cut them today, 10% cut to 5% and 15% cut to 10%, that would put more money in the hands of those that need it the worst, in no more than 2 pay periods from now. That would stimulate the economy!

okay, I'm all for tax cuts...but for most american's what would he or she do with that extra money? pay down/off a credit card or go shopping?

When did even the whisper of the mind set, concerning your income Jen, play a role in national politics?

A 'tax cut' or a 'tax credit', by definition, simply means you get to keep more of your income than before. It is not a gift, cannot be viewed as a 'stimulus' or anything else, it is simply your money to spend as you please, according to your personal, individual choice.

How many angels inhabit the head of pin? One should maybe question the existence of angels before beginning to count?

Amicus...

It doesnt matter what you do with the money, unless you burn it; the money goes into circulation. If the bank gets it, it goes back out as a loan. If you buy lap dances with it, the dancer will likely spend it on something.

Jenn! Lets do this! Let the government keep the money and they can send a bureaucrat to your house to lecture you about...oh...soybeans or condom production in America. I mean, THAT would be better than paying off your Mastercard.

Since when is it anyone's business what a person spends their personal money on?

What a twit...
