As she got closer, she could see that the ceremony was overseen by an ogre. Two peasant men were being flogged in the back of the clearing, while the women were naked and having their hair shaved off by the goblins, jeering and poking at them.

"We need to stop this. NOW!" Al'ika hissed under her breath, getting angry. She looked at her companions, fury in her eyes. "Anyone got any brilliant ideas?"

"There's so many goblins, we need to scare some of them off. Not an easy task, they have an ogre," Flish said thoughtfully.

Al'ika sat back on her haunches a little bit, before looking at Keth. "Do you have any ideas, love?" she asked.

Al'ika thought about it for a few moments. "Well, I could possibly make it sound like a manticore's nearby," she confessed.

"Great, even ogres run from those," Isep said. "I'll even help you cast it. Just let me know when to start my spell."

Isep began her chant as well, and a roar like no other reverberated through the clearing. At least half the goblins scurried off, the rest huddling around the ogre, who looked nervous holding his greatclub, for support. Keth and Flish jumped in, hacking and slashing at the evil humanoids.

Al'ika continued casting her spell, trying to drive more of them off. Even though she knew the more she casted, the more energy she used. She was determined to free these people.

"Isep," she said through gritted teeth. "Go untie the men and herd them and the women over this way, while they're all occupied. I got this."

Isep nodded, spearing a couple of goblins on the way. Keth was doing an exemplary job, but Flish was taking a lot of hits, being swarmed.

Al'ika began to weave another spell, hoping to do a visual representation of the manticore above the ogre, goblins, and humans.

Put of the mists burst the visage of the giant monster, causing mass panic. Flish managed to clear out more goblins, but he was still bleeding heavily.

Al'ika kept up the casting, keeping the manticore that had manifested roaring, her teeth gritting from the sheer force she was putting into it. "Flish, get out of there!" she ordered.

Al'ika growled and kept working on the manticore. "Isep! Little help in the killing department!" she called out.

Isep used a fireball to cut off and slay the goblins chasing Flish. "That do it for you?" she asked, stabbing another one behind her.

Al'ika stayed in position, keeping an eye on her companions and the people they just rescued. Her eyes were mainly on Keth, even as her lips moved in the incantations, and her fingers kept weaving their magic.

With assistance from Isep, Keth brought the combat to a close with a mighty thrust of his sword. Flish had drunk a potion and was on the mend. "Let's not do that one again," he said, wiping his mouth with his sleeve.

Al'ika dismissed the spells and swayed where she stood. "I'm fine," she said, leaning up against a tree. "And at the moment, I agree."

The men came out of the tree line. "What are Silverblade's men doing going around helping people?" they asked in disbelief.

Al'ika chuckled and took off her soldier's cap, revealing she wasn't even a man. "We're in disguise," she said, smiling. "We're good folk, from across the swamp. We help lots of people in trouble. You're welcome," she said.

The heavily bearded man looked relieved. "We thought you were going to have your way with our womenfolk as a reward when you were done. As you can see, they've been through quite a lot already. Could you spare some clothes for them?"
