Al'ika drank the tea and enjoyed him holding her, not asking her anything, just letting her be, but being there for her. She felt a tear or two roll down, and she didn't bother wiping them away. She didn't trust herself to speak, but she squeezed Keth's hand in thanks and appreciation.

Al'ika continued to cry softly, not wanting to do the big, racking sobs that her body was aching to do. "Human still pretty?" she asked softly, not really believing it right now.

Al'ika woke up and realized Keth wasn't there. Jumping, she smelled breakfast and saw Keth was up and looking tired. "Did you stay up all night?" she asked.

Al'ika nibbled on the pancakes. "That's not right, you need sleep," she said, looking up at him seriously. Her eyes were still a little puffy and red. "Go on, sleep. I'll be fine."

Al'ika smiled and she dressed into a simple dress that she had made a long time ago. She looked over her shoulder and quietly left before heading to Edioz's.

"Hey. I'm home," she said softly, not wanting to startle Fate or him.

Fate jumped up and tackle hugged her, holding her close as one would who had undergone the same torment. Edioz sat her down and gave her a beer. "I don't completely agree with your choice, but i respect it," he said "I wasn't there. I am so glad you're safe."

Al'ika couldn't help but break out into a smile when Fate hugged her, and she hugged her back. She nodded at Edioz. "Most people won't. But it doesn't change what he did. I'm not expecting people to be lenient, I'm just asking them to understand. That's all I want." She squeezed Fate's hand.

"I think Hallowbrook is cooking something up for him while he tends his wounds," Edioz said, "He fought like hell, from the looks of it."

Al'ika nodded. "I've never seen him cry like he did when he had to hurt me," she confessed. "It scared me, honestly. He even told me that he didn't deserve me."

"Maybe he was a good guy all along then," said Edioz thoughtfully. "Hallowbrook's magic will make him unable to follow Ashglow's instructions ever again."

"If he feels remorse as you say he does, I'll put him up, if Fate will allow it." She hesitated and said, "I want him to speak to me all about what he did, but I'll be fine with it."

Al'ika squeezed both of their hands. First Fate's, then Edioz's. "You sure?" she asked softly. "I don't want either of you to be uncomfortable. . ."
