Al'ika practically flew over to the bed and hugged Flish, cuddling him, crying with him. "It's okay, baby," she whispered. "I understand, it's okay, baby." She rubbed his back and kissed him, trying to soothe him as much as her.

"It's not OK," he said softly," I don't deserve you, and I never did. That bullshit with the box is proof pf that."

Al'ika fell silent. She didn't know what to say. She rubbed his back, stroked his hair, and rocked him, as he had done so many times for her.

"You're a better man than you think you are," she finally said. "If it were someone else- hell, if it were Ashglow- they would've pulled me to my feet and make me choose the next door. They would've left me on the floor to cry. They wouldn't have tried to comfort me, heal me, none of that." She kissed the top of his head. "You did. And that's what matters."

"He's probably going to come tomorrow anyway just to fuck me over," he said."We'll need to show him I have you, but I'll make sure you can get out."

"I'm going to get us dinner. Whatever you do, don't look over on that table over there," he said with a wink. He returned to the kitchens.

Al'ika smiled and shook her head. She curled up under the furs, cold and scared. She watched the door. She wasn't sure what was on the table Flish told her not to look at, nor was she sure if he was serious.

Issak, for the love of all that is holy, you better answer this time, she thought with an eye roll. Ashglow is probably going to come here tomorrow. Flish is going to help me escape, but I need someone there to help me. . . Now answer me, or Lord help me, I will use what I learned from Jep on you.

Issak finally came through. "Sorry, hon, magical interference. Apparently they expected druids. We'll be there, but you should find a map or something to help you get out. Those caves are serious."

Well, then. Issak, you know I know these caves almost better than anyone, Al'ika said, shaking her head in wry amusement. Tell Keth and Jep I'm. . . okay. Unless you've been keeping them updated? First rats, then orcs who thought my orifices were fantastic for mud. I'm clean and safe only with Flish. . .

"Well that's a comfort," Issak sent back with as much sarcasm as he could muster. "Just get out, and we'll be there to help. Got to go now and tell the others. And no, I haven't told Keth, just Jep."

Issak, behave. And tell the poor man, he's worried sick and he can't help me if no one keeps him in the loop! Al'ika snapped. Good grief. . .

She heard Flish's footsteps and she snuggled deeper into her covers.

Flish returned with another absolute bounty. He placed the steaks and vegetables in front of her and began slicing up the cornbread. "How do you think we should go about baiting him in?" he asked.

Al'ika shrugged and pushed her food around a little. "I'm not sure. Remember, I had a specific reason to go back the past two times," she said. She knew she needed to eat, but she wasn't really hungry. She took a small bite.

"I've got the orcs handled. They should be drinking themselves stupid now, and I've added something to their grog." he said. "When you've had your fill, go over to that closet and pick out an outfit. None of them are exactly flattering, or have much cloth, but take what you want to wear tomorrow."

Al'ika nodded and ate a bit more. She ate more than she wanted to, but she knew she needed her strength.

When she finished, she shakily walked over to the closet and chose the most modest piece, a dress that was low cut and high up on her, but it covered her for the most part, and that's what she wanted.

"No different than a shift, right?" she asked softly.

"Right," he said, trying to reassure her. "Tell me what you are comfortable doing to trick him so I can talk long enough to get you out."

"I. . . I don't know," Al'ika said, trying it on. "I'm. . . not sure. . . I don't want. . ." She was shaking.

"Just calm down, collect your thoughts, and let me know," he said, pouring her a glass of very fine wine.

Al'ika took the wine and drank it as quickly as she could. She sat down and held his hand. "What's the best way to trick him? I. . . I don't want you to get hurt. . . ." She squeezed it.

"I'm getting hurt one way or the other," he said. "I need to know how far you want to push the slave girl act."

"Well then I'm going to need to be a hardass. I'm letting you go still, I just want yo uto be prepared for it."

She nodded. "Thank you. Is there a way you could tell me the quickest way out?" she asked softly. She was scared, but determined.

"Sure, take these tunnels here and that should bypass the collapse and take yo back to the camp," he said, showing her on the map. "Can I do anything for you tonight?"
