Al'ika woke up early the next morning. She slipped out of Keth's embrace quietly, put on a simple homespun dress, and began working on breakfast.

Keth awoke to the sound of sizzling meat. His head felt strange from the effects of the weed. "Loco weed always do this?" he muttered sleepily.

"The first few times you smoke it," Al'ika said. "Once you get food in you, you'll feel better." She flipped over the bacon she was cooking and smiled.

Keth stumbled to the table and sat down, making himself a big glass of juice and sipping at it. "What you going to do today?" he asked.

Al'ika smiled and ate some food before getting ready to head to market. "I'll see you later," she said, kissing his cheek.

Her first stop, always, was Edioz's. "Hey! Need repairs," she said, stepping into his forge.

Edioz poked his head around the corner and smirked. "Sorry, I don't fix beds, try the carpenter." He laughed and took her armor and sword. "Looks like you had a lot of action this time around too."

Al'ika shook her head, blushing. "Issak gave us loco weed, Keth's first time. Poor thing," she joked. "And yeah. . . orcs and Jep, plus I never repaired my armor after our rescue mission." She watched him for a bit. "And the bed is perfectly stable!"

Edioz smiled at her as he beat the dents out of her armor. "Glad I'eie is OK. Something tell me she won't be leaving the village for quite a while. Also, Jep can't be trusted while drunk, so tell me how your little meeting was."

"Oh. THAT. Well, if Jep says I'm his new apprentice, then yes, that is true. It was good. I just. . . can't do more than the basics." Al'ika sat down and watched Edioz bang dents out of her armor.

"That must have been an experience," he said, beginning to sharpen her blade on the whetstone. "How are the basics?"

"Pretty good, I just started. Fell asleep while I was working on it, but so far, it's interesting," Al'ika smiled.

Edioz finally finished and handed her her equipment back. "Say hi to Keth for me," he said, showing her out as he looked for more customers.

Al'ika laughed and kissed Edioz's cheek. "I will," she said, heading out to get more meat, cheese, and milk, as well as some herbs and spices. She stopped by the tavern to say hi to Issak and Jep.

Issak looked fine, but Jep sat in a corner with an ice pack on his head and a huge mug full of water. "Issak looked at Al'ika. "No ring, just a good older brother," he said, laughing.

Al'ika laughed and kissed both of her adopted brothers. "Keth enjoyed the loco weed," she informed Issak, blushing furiously. "And he picked up a tip or two from our brother."

"Wonder when he did that?" Issak mused and shrugged. "He'll be fine at some point, and I'm going to check on I'eie soon. Let's drop your bags off first."

Al'ika smiled and hugged Issak. "Let me go kiss him again," she said, kissing Jep. "Feel better soon, lover boy," she teased before walking off with Issak.

Jep groaned a bit but smiled when she kissed him. Issak and Al'ika set off across the town. When they returned, Keth had the place looking spotless and stocked with firewood.

"Thanks, Keth," Al'ika said, dropping her bags and taking the ones Issak had carried and set them down. "Thanks, Issak. It's appreciated."

"Don't mention it," he said. "I'eie might know something we don't about the castle. Want to go find out?"
