I'm taking my stories and going home...

After the dismal performance of my BtVS story in the voting, I've decided to post outside Lit for the first time and share my Buffy fanfics with another site. The Lit readers are just underinformed, jealous philistines anyway. They wouldn't know real genius if it jumped up and...

But onto more healthy thoughts. Can anyone recommend a Buffy erotica fanfic site that is the equal of this Restricted Section that SF's always going on about? If I'm going to post anywhere else, I want to go to the best that I can find.

Dear Earl,
You're moving because your stories don't score high enough in the voting? I don't care much for fanfic, so I haven't read your stories, but are you sure it's the fault of the voters?

Nothing wrong with posting stories on a diffenent site, I did that for a while before I settled here. Lit, though, would appear to be the elite of sites like this.

Lit is like New York; if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

Good Luck,
MG

Personally I don't think it's a bad or traitorous idea to want to take a story to a site that caters to the crowd you wrote it for. I post at a few other sites depending on what it is I've written too, although Lit is the only place I put all my stories.

But work like my mm stories doesn't get nearly the audience here that it does at some of the gay sites. And that's the point isn't it? To get the biggest audience possible.

So I say by all means keep posting to Lit, but look for other sites that cater to the Buffy crowd and put them up there too. I PM'd you with some links btw. Didn't want to break the board rules.

Best of luck,

Jayne

Dear Jayne,
I never thought about there being sites which specialize in a certain type of story. Call me Ms Naive.

I wonder if there is a site where DurtGurl's stories would fit right in.

My god, the mind boggles at the thought! ;)

Most of what I write - off duty - is non erotica, so if I publish it at Lit, I will catch flack because there is no sex in it.

So I DO write for several other sites. Of course, I restrict those to sites which do have a limited number stories per issue, and you must slide it past an Editor to get published.

Anything that might possibly qualify for Lit, goes here. :( Just that there isn't that much.

Wouldn't DurtGurl fit in at the same site where Wulfhond802 got published.

MG: I'm honest enough to admit that my appreciation of my story may differ from other peoples. But I refuse to believe that it is a worse story than One Cup Of Coffee which is my earliest story and hugely amateurish. I'd like to get a wider audience for it as well.

Jayne: Thanks for the links.

Posting stuff Elsewhere

Hi TE.

I don't much watch Buffy at all. So I couldnt tell you if they have a site for what you're looking for. Hopefully you'll find one to suit your needs.

If worse comes to worse, do what I did, start a Yahoo Group in the adult section. I have a lot of Kiefer Sutherland fans who dont particularly want to come over to Literotica.com just to find a single story.

So, I post the unedited versions there for them to read and discuss to their heart's content. :D Especially when they ask about some of the background characters I toss into the mix.

Earl - I'll ask my friend who is a huge Buffy fan and get back to you

MG - IMHO Earl is quite a talented author.

I post my general erotica here but my fanfic goes to other places...

There's nothing wrong with it, and it helps you get more constructive or creative feedback in a forum where *everyone* is there for what you're writing.

Don't get me wrong, I like the diversity on Lit, but sometimes its nice to be able to talk about something or argue a canon point and have lots of people understand.

God Bless Laurel's Little Cotton Socks!

The voting on the Buffy story has gone up, but the overall number of votes has gone down, suggesting that someone somewhere has been nasty and 1 bombed me repeatedly, which Laurel has now removed.

Still not pleased as it only has 17 votes, but at least it's at a respectable score now. Any thoughts on the Buffy site would still be appreciated as all the ones that I've found have been crap so far.

How is it that there are so many Harry Potter sites when you need to go into the future to write about them and yet there's not one decent Buffy erotica site?

Dear Earl,
I can relate to your frustuation and feel your pain. Think how I felt when I realized that there are hardly any sites dedicated to cross dressing singing cowboys. That had me off my feed for several days.

Math,

You will be happy to learn that there IS a Singing Cowboy Fiction Site.
Revolution Science Fiction has published “The Singing Cowboy's Apprentice” perhaps for your personal appreciation.

Here is the link: http://www.revolutionsf.com/article/622.html

Me? I’m waiting for the movie.

I don't believe it. If Mathgirl can get a site just for her, then why can't I? <stamps foot petulantly>

Close, but.............

Dear Earl and Quaz,
Oh, singing cowboys are easy. My local library covers that. It's the CROSS DRESSING singing cowboys that present the problem. It's an underappreciated genre.
MG
Ps. I've heard rumors that there exists a picture of George "Gabby" Hayes in a teddy. I won't believe that until I see it for myself.

It's interesting. I was talking with the StudMuffin about the Star Wars books they have out and about on the way home. He was very enthused about them. I've never read them.

Halfway between there and here, it hit me. The copyright owners usually don't write those books. Someone else does. There are quite a few talented fan-fictioners around here--notably in the Star Trek and Buffy area. Someone has to write those books. Why not you?

The place to start looking is in "Good Morning, Vietnam!" ;)

Earl, I did a google search with these words:

buffy vampire slayer fanfic fiction

and got loads of sites, but it's for you to check them out, I don't have the time.

good luck, Pear

There are actually 100s upon 100s of Buffy sites, but I haven't found one yet that I'd be willing to put my name to. 90% of the fiction is amateurish, rarely updated and badly presented.

Just have to keep looking.

my novella has been up since the beginning of March and has only had 17 votes...

...and the last was a 1 :-(

Dont feel too bad, there. I've got a series of 4 fanfic stories going on and the most I've gotten on one story is 15 votes. The rest only have 3 votes a piece.

I'm not really concerned, tho. I'm just thankful I have somewhere to post em.

So, what's a good score or bad score to you Earl? I looked at your author's page and it looks like most of your stories have a "H" by it.

~Kenzie

A bad score to me is less than 4.0. A good score is more than 4.4. That's just MHO and how I judge myself.

The Earl

Don't you have to have 4.5 or higher to have an "H" though? Sounds like good scores to me.
