Now it would appear that, on average, I get at least a few emails a week which come from this site. Most are of the "nice tits, send me more nakid pics, u wanna chat?" variety.

If you are one of the people who has sent me mail like this, please don't sit by the screen waiting for a reply because unless there happens to be an email bag lady going through my trash sending out replies on my behalf, you're not going to get one.

Now it is not this kind of fan mail that I'm writing about. I'm talking about the positive, friendly, share a bit of yourself (other than body part sizes and personal ad data), make me smile all day emails. I do not get this kind of mail nearly enough so perhaps that is what is prompting me to post this thread.

This afternoon I think I got the best email I have ever received. Maybe I only think this because it was one of the ego-boost variety. But even more than that, it left me speechless and blushing.

The gentleman thanked me for an enjoyable evening (which came about from reading one of my stories) and continued to explain how he enjoyed the story and how he reacted to it. He also said how he identified with the characters and really felt like he was in the story.

Maybe the reason I was so moved by this email was because it was the kind of response I've wanted to hear about one of my stories ever since I've started sharing them. It was such an ego-boost, knowing that I had, at least for this one person, a sense of sexual prowess via the written word.

I don't really know what my point is here, except to maybe encourage those who are affected by something they encounter here, whether a story or a pic, to make your replies and to take a bit more time with them than the one line responses.

To the person who sent me this email, should you happen to see this thread: I hope you don't mind that I shared this. I tried to keep the details vague since personal emails are just that. I just had to share because your email really made my day.

SpecialK-

I understand where you are coming from. My ICQ's, e-mails, etc. are jam packed full of people wanting to know intimate details about me, before they even strike up a conversation.

I think I posted on this on another thread.

It is refreshing when you come across someone who isn't in it just for the cyber - which I never give out!

Just the other day, I had a "gentleman" - I use this term loosely - message me. Here's how it went:

Him: Had any good sex lately?

Me: Sorry, I don't divulge personal info like that to perfect strangers.

Him: Oh, I'm sorry...just that I figured if you visit a sex site, you would be open to it.

Me: Let me tell you something, I find people who ask me such personal questions right off the bat very rude and insulting.

Him: You are right, I'm sorry.

Me: Good, maybe next time you will think twice before acting so disgusting.

And that was the last of him. I am much more apt to tell my secrets to those that take the time to get to know me. I've had "friends" for years online that don't know a thing about my sexual likes and dislikes. The topic has simply not come up. There are also those that I've taken a liking to after only 3 or so conversations, that know quite a bit about my sexual tastes. It all depends on how well your personality meshes with another person.

Anyone who comes on with an attitude such as the gentleman above can expect a similar response, or maybe none at all. Usually the former, because I tend to like to put these jerks in their place.

Thank you for sharing your good experience with us.

SpecialK,
There is no feeling like having your work acknowlegded by readers. That first fan letter sends you right over the top, at least it did me. Since I write from the male perspective, I don't have to deal with the requests for personal details, offers to meet for sex, or people asking for pictures. How do you deal with intrusions like that?

And to all you readers out there, cut the female writers a little slack. They are here to post stories, not start online romances with a bunch of oversexed strangers. Send them fan mail if you like their stories, but don't try tp prey on our female writers. We want them to keep writting, not be harassed by someone who can't meet women in RL.

When someone likes my writing enough to send me mail about it, I take that as the highest compliment. (That's probably because a story really has to stand out for me to write the author about it.) And I always write back to every single person who writes me. (I've even had people write back just to say, "Wow! I was so surprised that you wrote back!")

To me, even the one-liners ("I just wanted to tell you I liked your story a lot.") are great. When I open my mailbox and find something as short as that, it still makes my day.

However, those letters that get more specific really hit me right in the heart. I worked extremely hard on my story, and when someone takes the time to compliment my characterization, or my use of the language, or ANYTHING at all in particular, I feel like singing. Also, a few times I've gotten notes that said, "I've never written to an author before, but I just had to write you." What a blast to get something like that in your mailbox! Another high point was when a man told me he got tears in his eyes twice from reading some emotional scenes in "Hostile Takeover". I was floored when I read that.

Perhaps it's silly, but I've kept all my "fan mail" in a folder. Am I the only one?

I have gotten "Let's have sex" mail, not too often, but I ignore it too.

I have also gotten mail that both compliments my writing and proposed a sexual liason. I attribute this to the fact that my profile mentions a sexual fantasy of mine. Quite a few men have offered to fulfill that fantasy for me, or just wished me luck in finding someone with which to fulfill it. However, I think it's cute, and I'm flattered by it. To me, that is just flirting, and I treat it as such.

So, I also encourage people to write to the authors whose stories they've enjoyed. If you take the time to be specific about what you liked, fabulous! If you just want to dash off a quick, "I liked ______. I thought it was great!" do that too! It's really the only way we authors know someone is actually reading our stuff. :) And it also motivates us to write more.

Hey you, big tits!

No not you, Nurse. I would have said humongous (sp?).

Well, I get a lot of crazy mail, and if someone says something particularly interesting which indicates an actual interest, other than prurient, I might respond. But then it seems to soon lead to, "You got a pic you could send me?"

Endlessly didn't respond to this thread, but if she would care to comment, I'll bet you all a dollar she got much more feedback on her pic than she did on her wonderful poetry and stories.

I have noticed that when I write a down-and-dirty fuck story I get more feedback than when I try to write something with a rather intricate plot. Of course, anything with incest seems to be particularly popular.

Oh well. I'm not complaining just making an observation. What's wrong with being treated as a sex object anyway?

My most recent mail was this:

"Enjoyed the stories - my mouse is now sticky"

I'm still debating whether to be happy or sad about that one.

P.S. It was sent to Crystal. Flagg doesn't seem to get nearly as much mail as she did. Damn Bitch!

Where's my dollar, Deborah? :D

I once got an E-mail from a guy who said he enjoyed one of my stories so much that he was fucking his girlfriend as he wrote the letter.

Ummm.. To anyone out there: I appreciate an overwhelming urge to give feedback, but you can do it AFTER you finish fucking whomever. :)

In response to Deborah-- I've gotten more response on this BB about my picture than I've ever gotten here on the story feedback.. no matter how many times I've asked for it. =/ I can't count the times when I've made a thread on the Story Feedback section practically begging for views on my stories, and felt like an idiot three weeks later because none of the people I know took the time to read my work.

E-mail wise, however, I've gotten far more response to my stories and poems than to my pictures thus far. (And a hell of a lot of responses to my profile.. I guess 'sexually-frustrated college student' must be the magic phrase) And oddly enough, I've gotten many e-mails recently from people who went to see my pic, then decided to look up my stories.. And the praise was for my prose, not my tits. :)

The best and most touching letters I've gotten have been about my 'good things come to those..' series-- the events are true, and still vivid enough in my mind that I wasn't ever able to write the last installment because of the emotions still there. One of the writers here whose body of work is one of my favorites, and in my opinion amazingly well-written, once told me that series was the best thing he'd ever read on Literotica, and it damn near made me cry.

And as far as the stuff about a 'good fuck story' vs. plot.. Well, I've never been on the story Top 20 or anything, but from the feedback I've gotten, 'Good things' is more popular than my 'Good fuck' stories.. And it goes through three installments (four, if I'd ever have finished it) without any actual sexual intercourse. THAT amazed me most of all.

The letters I've gotten from lonely college females who've fallen in love with the male character in my story.. the couples who write me swearing I wrote my work about them.. That's MORE than why I write for Literotica.

That's why I WRITE, period.

The only story I have posted here is long and intricate in its plotting, so I can't say whether "down and dirty" gets me more feedback. A lot of the mail I did receive mentioned an appreciation for the plot development, so perhaps it's just a question of individual reader preference.

Personally, sometimes I'm in the mood to read plot, and sometimes I'm in the mood for pure sex.

Someday I would like to have the discipline to write just a sexual encounter. I find it much more difficult to write short and concise. In a short story you just don't have the leeway to ramble; you have to get the story moving and keep it going to its conclusion. You can't dawdle too long on character development. You just don't have time. I have a lot of practicing to do before I can be adept at that.

I love the e-mails that ask me if my stories are based on real events. I know it's because they feel like the characters actually lived, which is a great compliment about my writing, but I always have to say, "No, never fucked five teenage girls at the same time." LOL!

Though much of the sex is fantasy, the girls generally are based on someone, particularly one girl I remember, and I've always thought about tracking her down and giving the address of this site and pointing to my story and saying "Look what YOU wrought." I wonder how she'd react?

I NEVER get asked for nudie pix or invites to "chat", except for the two or three guys who thought "Dixon" was a woman. I remember last year when I used to go into the chat rooms a lot how the women would always complain about how many guys were PMing (Private Messaging) them with all sorts of rude offers and comments. I felt left out, so I signed in once as something like "fuckmeimwet" and finally found out what the girls were talking about. I got the RUDEST, ugliest PMs, and they wouldn't stop, no matter how much I slammed them. They got all upset that I wouldn't talk to them (the old "Gee you're on a sex site so I just thought you were, you know, a cunt..."). And it wasn't just the provocative name, cause I came on again as something simple like "Betty" and got just as many "hits". It's a good thing men rule the world because otherwise no one would talk to us.

You bring up an interesting point, Dixon.. I've RARELY gone into chat rooms here (I think I've been in perhaps twice since I ran into you there a long time ago)-- not just because of the constant hits I get, but because working for an online community and having to spend a certain number of hours chatting elsewhere a day, I just get burnt out.

I don't mind getting hit on in the chats here; I don't like it, but it's easy to ignore. I don't care how lewd or ranuchy or suggestive the PMs are, they don't bug me.

But I got one PM the last time I was in the Literotica chat that bugged me so much I don't know if I'll go back.

Them: "Great stories! I loved them, you're such a talented, sexy writer!"

Me: "*stunned* Really? You've read my work?"

Them: "'Course not. Wanna fuck?"

What a jackass. Hey, maybe that was the Big Hairy Ass Lasher showed us?
Don't they get the hint that woman like to be wooed a little.

Dixon, Endlessly, I understand what you're saying. But trust me, the jerks that made those comments are NOT regulars in the Chat Room. If you haven't been there in a while, we have monitors now that try to keep that type stuff to a minimum. Not always successful, true, but we try.

Dixon, I've spoken to you several times in chat a long time ago. Endlessly, sorry, never had the chance to chat with you there.

Come visit us again. We'd love to chat with you. Give the "regulars" a chance, and ignore the idiots.

Budman

Here's your dollar Endlessly!

Here's your dollar Endlessly! Now I'll show you how to grow it into more dollars.

Tosses the Sacagawea golden dollar to Endlessly and watches it bounce on the floor. Endlessly bends over for the soap, 'er I mean golden dollar. Click, click goes my Polaroid. One pic from the front and one from the back.

OK, now we go tell those dudes over on the "Endlessly's Tits are DIVINE!!!!!!!!!" to send money if they want more honey.

Hi, Cg, thanks, but the overheated jerks aren't the reason I don't pop into the chat rooms more often. First of all my password was either stolen or the info corrupted (either way, it's been fixed recently, thank you Laurel) and I think someone was "playing" Dixon for a while, so apologies to anyone he may offended in the chat rooms using my name. I actually met a lot of very nice people there, and it was part of my dialy ritual to check in mornings and afternoons. But, as it's been said, everything goes in cycles. I stopped reading the stories for a while, now I'm reading them again. I stopped the chat rooms, but I've been poking my nose in there from time to time lately. I'll probably stop posting on the Bulletin Board at some point, just to make a change.

Although I do think I'll always be on the BB more than in the chat rooms, because I did find that I exhausted my interest in real time communication with dozens of people, always having to input a word or a sentece to keep the conversation going, and the BB affords me the opportunity to relax and think about what I'm saying and post at leisure.

But the chat room is a blast for anyone who's never done it. Give it a shot. You WILL find some kind, interesting souls there, along with the fuckmeimwets and longduckdongs.
