Fake Spouses

A man and a woman have worked together for years in sales at IndustCo. Now they are told that their jobs are being outsourced, not to India, but to Utah, to a company whose owner brags about it being "one big family". He makes no secret of ignoring equal opportunity laws and only hiring married people.

The two decide to re apply for their old jobs, pretending to be married. Once they are hired, they have to live the lie, sharing a house, attending events, etc....

does this become a romantic tale?

or is one gay or lesbian?

or do they find the community's secret swingers?

I say it should be a romantic story where they pretend to be married. But over time they get to know each other and they eventually fall in love and really do get truthfully married.

However, in the beginning, they fight like cats and dogs. Several times they both tell the other the job wasn't worth living with the other person. She goes out of town, finds a date and brings him home. He doesn't know why, but he is very hurt and jealous. So, he does the same thing to her. They fight some more until he grabs her and kisses her hard. At first she struggles and breaks away. He gets mad and says ok then forget it, but after thinking it over, she knows she is in love with him, but now he wants nothing to do with her so she has to win him back.

Great idea, but it needs to have the tension built-in to the premise. I'd say she is a man-hating bull dyke, and he is as queer as a three-dollar bill. But they need the jobs, so they go along with the ruse.

They each take (discrete) lovers in their new home, but then jealousy begins to creep into their minds. "He's mine!" runs through hers, and "She's mine!" runs through his. But at the same time, they are nauseated at the idea of actually having physical relations with a member of the opposite sex.

Eventually, after several graphically-depicted extended scenes of same-sex debauchery, they give in to possessiveness and cognitive dissonance, and take a chance on the dangerous and unknown evils of heterosexual behavior!

Or... another twist

they are gay.

they find themselves working with the Big Boss' son. Who is also married, but it turns out HE is also closeted gay, and his "wife" is a lesbian. Or maybe a wannabe lesbian but still a virgin.

soon all four become inseparable...

Or... this could be the sequel to one of the other versions. (even if the first couple aren't gay, the second are. They become friends which leads to curiosity...)
