Fake Democrats in Wisconsin

No really.

In a bid to disrupt the recall of the Gov, the Republican commit fraud. It speaks well for their integrity, or maybe not?

But there is good news.
“Everyone knew the Republican scheme to run fake Democratic candidates was a sleazy corruption of Wisconsin democracy that needlessly wasted taxpayer dollars,” said We Are Wisconsin executive director Kristen Crowell. “Thankfully, this time around, there’s recourse available against this travesty, as it appears it’s also illegal.”

I hope the State Chair of the GOP enjoys his stay in prison.

Do you think that we could get some support behind a politics and current events forum, in this election year?

It's just that I've already read this at huffpost and other places, gotten emails about it, and debated it, given a few dollars in contributions to fight it. As has everyone else that is actively interested, I would bet.

Please, JL-- although there is nothing stopping you from top posting news items here ad infinitum-- hold it down to a minimum, out of the kindness of your big fuzzy heart perhaps.

What's the point?

Every thread turns into a flamewar. Tossing the politics into a forum of its own now is just taking a shovel full of manure off the top of the pile. That ship sailed.

Just relabel the place GB Light *shrug*

I'll take the political light threads that JackLuis posts any day over the "beating up the opposite sex as nastily as you can" threads of recent days.

The "why modern men hate women" thread could have been put into that forum.

And, Dark-- that's not true.

Generally speaking, if a person registers as a member of a political party, that person is a member of that party, even if only nominally. If he or she then decides to throw the hat into the ring, there is nothing illegal about that. It might be dishonest, but is it any more dishonest than Dems coming out to vote for Santorum in a Rep. primary election becaue they believe he would be easier for The Big O to beat in Nov.?

When a lawyer in the pay of somebody expresses an opinion that favors his or her principal, I tend to not believe that lawyer.

Dems can't vote in republican primaries, Box.

“Among the requirements for running as a candidate in a partisan primary, one is required to file with the [Government Accountability Board] a ‘Declaration of Candidacy,’ form GAB-162. That form specifically requires a candidate to state that their candidacy is ‘representing’ the political party for which the primary is to take place. This statement must be made under oath,” attorney Jeremy P. Levinson said in a memo (PDF) to We Are Wisconsin.

Clearly, a candidate running in a Democratic primary for the purpose of disadvantaging that party and giving electoral advantage to the Republican Party and the Republican incumbent the Democrats seek to recall can do so only by falsifying his or her declaration of candidacy.”

That is pretty sleazy. But then, so was the time when the Democrat state senators fled the state when they were in the minority, so they wouldn't have to vote. Dirty tricks are dirty tricks, some are legal, some aren't.

and die of gut poisoning because you don't know what went into them, in both cases.

I WISH I could just relax and be happy today. But not at the cost of tomorrow's survival.

WI used to have an open primary where anybody of any political persuasion could come to the polling place and ask for a ballot of any party. I don't know if they still do or not, but I do know some states do, and Dems came and voted for the man they perceived to be the easier candidate to beat.

Not even the Republicans bothered to vote in the Virginia Republican primary. Only Romney and Paul were on the ballot. All of the others had screwed around and failed to get enough names on their petitions.

It's not a new phenomenon. In 2008, Republican party leader, demonstrated woman-hater, and all around gas bag Rush Limbaugh made a big production of commanding his minions to vote for Hillary Clinton in Democratic primaries after Obama took the lead in delegate counts. He called it "operation chaos."

Thank you Pilot for that. I generally post things I feel are funny, in one way or another. The political aspect is generally secondary.

As for Men hating Women, it goes both ways I've found.

Your political threads usually are on the humor side and not, it appears, set up to beat anyone down. They seem to take more of a "ain't human nature strange? *shrug*" path. Some other threads (including ones posted by Stella) seem only intent on dividing us and beating "the other side" (as defined--more often than not, erroneously--by the zealot) down.

And, yes, the "man hating woman" thread that's still, I think, running has much more been a "some woman hating all men" and wallowing in hissy fits thread than as advertised.

I just turned it and all of the hissy fitters (on both sides) off.

And Stella's take on political threads here is laughable. She's always early to arrive at any political discussion, determined to beat down anyone who won't totally buy her dogma, and is still there beating her drum after everyone else is exhausted and wants to call it a night.

Unfortunately, the political aspect is primary to many of us. :(

And I wish that C2BK hadn't posted her thread -- or been smarter about titling it.

Or that we had some kind of broom and pan available to sweep up after ourselves-- like the ability to delete our own threads or any number of other forms of free speech. I'd bet that C2BK wishes the same.

Some people see conspiracies and others see the Lord's Will.

I tend to believe that life is ironic. :D

I'm not going to post on it anymore. I hope that LJ will just sputter a few more things and it will sink quickly and gracelessly into the morass.

Well, you had a good old time making up positions for others and spitting at them and being just as ugly as you could be. I'm sure it gave you several orgasms and you felt part of some sort of "we know it all" power group. Pretty heady for a college freshman who gets all giggly about the possibility of some guy in the dorm laying her, I'm sure.

Well, you weren't much better. You didn't have much good to say about anybody. Personally, I try to keep discussions civil and avoid saying things that are not logical and reasonable.

ETA: Does it occur to you that we are allowing that nasty thread to spill over into this much gentler one?

Don't give me any shit about not having much good to say about anybody. That's a lie. I'm tired of this backbiting swiftboating.

And point out where I was uncivil on that thread--or where I did anything but say I thought that a lot fewer men hated women than were just indifferent to them--and I repeatedly said that being indifferent to them wasn't a good thing either. From that it was extracted that I myself was a male honker and I had all sorts of shit dropped on me--but show where I answered in kind.

It was an absolutely ugly man-eater thread (still is as far as I know, since I have most of them on ignore now), and you WILL NOT make up positions for me I didn't take any more than the hissy fitters did. Show me where I was uncivil or being a male chauvinist even.

That thread was simply safe-bet pushing her bitchy hatred and a few others falling under her "charm."

And don't talk to me about spreading it to another thread as long as you are contributing to that as well.

I know, how about we quit dragging every stupid fight into the next thread?

Just ignoring the poison trailing through this forum hasn't gone anywhere. It started on this thread with Stella giving direction on what others shouldn't post (other than her, of course).

So learn to let shit go, ignore it, whatever it takes, but you feed the fire at least as much as others, usually more.

It truly is making it pointless to read the forums...
