Fairhaven: D&D Based SRP

Narrator

A few Zombies have fallen, and the rest are still moving toward the gate; largely ignoring the hostilities after the one was felled by Fern. Even the ones engaging Abraxas break off and shuffle toward the gate, ignoring the adventurers.

Matt's sudden appearance and even more sudden launch of arrows comes as a welcome sight. Matt had already stunned everyone in the caravan more than once with his speed and accuracy with the intricate, beautiful longbow he always carried. One Zombie toppled with two of Matt's arrows lodged in the base of its skull.

A skull now ten feet away from the body it had once been attached to.

The Zombies still shuffle toward the sorely pressed trio of remaining Guard, who grimly stood their line.

Fern

Rushing forward Fern swung her sword again with deadly accuracy at a retreating zombie, shuffling away from Ralak as it head back towards the city gate. It collaspsed at her feet. Pausing briefly again she hacked off it head and whispered 'Rest In Peace finally'

Turning she headed after the other retreating zombie.

Ralak Arablest

Seeing the zombies retreating Ralak charges after his own retreating zombie, striving to do the same as Fern but only really managing to topple the zombie with his quarterstaff, seeing an opportunity to strike again Ralak does so finishing the zombie with a pair of strikes that has left a large gob of flesh on the end of his staff.

Ralak then moves forward with Fern and Abraxas unsure of how the remaining guardsmen will cope.

Abraxas

"How in the hell do I get myself into this??!!??

I am madly swinging my staff surrounded by stinking corpses. An arrow whizzed past myhead,& I notice the rest of my companions firing arrows into the zombies. fern moves next to me, slicing zombies up around me, 7 I finish off the wounded ones, that is until one lands a solid blow to my chest, knocking me through the air & onto my back. The last thing i see is a half-rotted man holding a club over me..........

Fern

Seeing Abraxas fall brings a lump to Fern throat. Holding her shield close to her she charges at the zombie as it wields it club over the prone MU. Not trying to hit it with her sword she bodychecks the creature just as it swings it club down over its head.

Knocked of balance and carried sideways the zombie continues to swing its club, catching Fern on the shoulder. They both crash to the ground, Fern's sword falling from her hand as she grasps her shoulder in agony.

Ishkama

Ishkama watches as her two allies hit the ground along with one zombie. "Geez, do I have to do everything?" She jumps off the wagon, dropping her longbow in it and pulling out her sword in the process.

She rushes over just in time to see the zombie start to rise, looking around desperatly for its weapon. "DIE!" She yells as her sword slides through the zombie, causing him to fall to the ground.

"Need a hand up?" She ask Fern offering her a hand. "There is no more zombie on you, you can get up now Abraxas."

Fern

Momentarily stunned from the blow, Fern rubbed her neck. Fortunately the blow had been deadened by her supple armor, still she knew her neck would be sore for a couple of days yet. She heard a womwn's voice scream 'DIE', looking up she a was just in time to she the blade of Ishkama slash mercilessly through the zombie as it staggered to it feet, causing it to fal back to floor motionless.

Ishkama leaned over her offering her hand to help her to her feet. She gratefully accepted it 'Thanks', she said. Looking around she pick up her sword and brushed some of the sand from body.

She looked across at Abraxas, he too was get back on his feet.

'How many are there left?', Fern asked looking inthe direction of the City Gate. She wiggled her head side to side, stretching the muscles and loosening the aching tissue.

Abraxas

"OWWWWWW" i wince as I touch my temple.
"Thanks Ish, that thing had me."
I turn to Fern checking her for damage. I notice a spreading bruise on her neck.
"DAMN THEM!" I focus my will & call the magic inside me..
A glowing point of light streaks from my fingers & strikes a zombie in the head , one thats fighting a guardsman. Its head explodes, & the corose topples to the ground.

Fern

'ooooo My goodness, that was impressive, I may have underestimated you Abraxas', Fern observed watching the zombies head fragment as its boiled brains expanded in it skull.

Abraxas

I blush as fern compliments me.

" its nothing, he had allready weakened its skull with a blow, so my spell hit a little harder. I'm still learning."

Ishkama

"OK, do you think you two lovebirds could get over yourselves so we can figure out what is going on? I am bored, and listening to you two is making me sick."

Ishkama starts to look over to where the zombies came, looking for someone that could be controling them.

Fern

Sheathing her sword and swinging her shield bacl over her aching shoulder, Fern readied her bow once more, Latching an arrow targeting one of the zombies closest to her, she let it fly quickly reloading and losing a second before the first had struck its target.

The 2 arrows chased each other impacting close to each other in the back of the zombie. It staggered forward with a jolt but continued to advance on the guards.

Matt

Seeing that the situation is mostly under control, he relaxes a bit, and fire off a few more arrows towards the few remaining undead creatures.
Noticing that Abraxas has been injured, he goes and find Arlen to help with Abraxas's injuries, and perhaps to even turn the undead.

Arlen

" Well, everyone has joined the fight... and it does not seem to be as easy as I thought..."

Arlen walks towards the battle... Just as she comes in within range she raises her arms in the air, her voice screamimg prayers to her goddess Sune.

" Oh Goddess of Beauty, give me the power to eliminate this horrors of nature, slay these horrible creatures ! ".

When Arlen finishes her prayer 2 of the Zombies burst into flames, the flames condume them in a instant leaving nothing but ashes...

Ishkama

"WOW, Arlen, so you aren't just a beautiful human. HEHE"

Ishkama watches as two of the undead flame to ash.

Ralak Arablest

After watching Abraxas's spell and seeing Arlen a little preoccupied, Ralak opens his pouch to get some roots, herbs and leaves.

"Stand still Abraxas, I'll heal you", Ralak runs some water through the concoction and as Abraxas raises his shirt, smears the mess over his comrades chest, allowing a little time for it to soak in, Ralak places a hand over the affected area softly murmuring ancient druidic words.

In moments it is over, "A few bruises is better than cracked ribs, you'll just have to wash the left over stuff off".

Fern

Realising her previous shots had only slowed the zombie fractionally, she reloaded her bow, pulling back the string with some effort she let an arrow loose.

She pulled a second arrow and readied it, the bow shaking slightly in her hand as she bit on her tongue, her neck and shoulder stiffening from the brutal blow from the zombie.

The first arrow missed its target, falling harmlessly several feet from one of the guards.

Carefully she aimed her second arrow, trying to counter for her earlier error, the bow twanged softly as the second arrow was released seeking its target. It sped gracefully through the air but again failed to make contact.

Fern shook her head lightly and swung her bowing arm trying to loosen the stiffening muscles in her shoulder.

Abraxas

2 zombies are moving closer to us. Fern is firing arrows into them, but they have little effect. I step in front of her & spread my hands in a fan-shaped pattern:
"FLAM SORTHAR TORCHANTH"

Flames shoot out of my fingers, sweeping over the 2 zombies in front of us. They stagger back & flail around. burning brightly.

My vision blurs & i stagger a bit. casting & fighting taking its toll on me.

Fern

Watching the flames fan out from Abraxas' finger tips Fern couldn't help herself.

'I hope you have a safety for those, just incase you decide to get carried away later !', she smiled suggestively at him.

Narrator

Someone asked how many were left; answer's seven.

Iskama: your investigations reveal that the undead had simply been milling around in a clearing just off the road.

The City Guard are backed up against the massive, hinged stone gates of Fairhaven; hacking as best they can with obviously low-quality short swords at the Zombies who are now simply shambling in the direction of the gate, as if its closing has confused them.

Fern

With all the black smoke rising from the numerous corpses scattered around the city gate it was difficult to determine how many zombies were still around -

Fern looked skyward for some DM intervention - 'hmmmm doesn't appear to be paying attention, she thought to herself as she pulled her +4 Ice Brand Bastard Sword from under her cloak, it glinted with magnificient cruelty as the sun caught on its razor edge' -

Stepping back into reality she drew her standard issue +0 long sword of normalness and having grasped her wooden shield in her left hand stepped up to engage the remaining zombies.

'You gonna come and beat a couple too with that walking stick of yours', she asked Abraxas jovially as she stepped forward.

Running towards the zombies, Matt fires off waves of arrows as he approaches the remaining zombies.
Turning around for a second, he grins, calls out to Arlen, "Wanna come and help me fire up a few more of these creatures?"

Ishkama

Ishkama runs up to where the guards are pinned to the gate and runs her blade through the back of one zombie, narily missing a guard. "Do you guys need some help?" She asked being a smart ass as usual. She watched as the guard looked up at her angerly.

Fern

Momentarily Fern is distracted as Abraxas plays with his staff, 'hmm I see', she thought to herself, before charging forward to dispatch another zombie with her sword.
