Had the television on while I was researching a challenge by a colleague here on the forum, Weird Harold, questioning an assumption I made in a book I am writing.
I have read the book, many years ago, and seen the film or parts of it, several times, but as it was playing in the background, I had the thought of the war in the middle east and the ongoing conflict in that area.
The story concerns a little over 600 Jewish Refugees in 1947 following Liberation from Nazi Death Camps and how they are trying to make their way to Palestine.
The thought came to mind, I wonder how many who express such strong opinions on the Iraq War and Islamic Terrorism, really understand the recent history of that area.
How many realize the degree to which the Brit's were instrumental, following world war two, for administering the Palestine area and the problems with refugees and the Arab and Muslim world at that time?
If there are any who have a deep understanding, perhaps a religious one, of Arab hatred of the Jews, of Israel, why even Jews and other Christians have a conflict between each other and the Muslim world at large, I hope you will express your thoughts.
There is also a little history involved, such as the UN vote in May of 1948, 33 to 13 with 10 abstentions of the decision to partition Palestine into and Independent Jewish State and an Independent Muslim, Palestine.
Figured I would share my thoughts, run it up the flagpole and see who salutes...
