I had a funny conversation with a jogging mate of mine J, who is living in New York as I cannot get my joggging mojo back and really struggling with my motivation to jog so I asked her, what motivates you to jog? J replied, oh that is easy, I usually make a bet with my husband at the start of each month that I will jog a certain distance within a certain time or as my punishment I have to jog a lap of the park with him, only wearing a bra, shoes and a thong..

Now that made me laugh but I can appreciate just what a motivator that could be, anyone else want to share theirs??

What motivates most people is one good look in the mirror. The mirror is not your friend.

Listening to the theme from rocky.

Hehe yeah tried that and it works well in the GYM when doing an set exercise routine say on the treadmill but for me, it doesn't work that well on the outside maybe I am just not getting it.. :)

Actually that is a terrible motivator as exercising to lose weight is long term lifestyle not a "quick" diet type fix but I get your headspace (and don't we all do it anyway) ;)

For me it is my BMI that is not my friend.. I just ignore the mirror..

Nice to know I'm not the only one who still listens to those Rocky songs for motivation. It works when you're cleaning house too.

whimsy. i do whatever exercise i have a sudden urge to do.

I found Salt N Pepa - Push It is a brilliant way to get the energy flowing.. I recently found an app that allows you to have a play list based your exercise routine.. Clever thinking..

You have to get angry at yourself and find a target ..like say Tom cruise..and be like "fuck that son of a bitch! I refuse to be second best o that fucker!" Then you pull up the rocky theme on you tube ..while you get you tennis shoes, shorts and t-shirt on. Get your headphones. You need angry music in the gym to get youself amped up. Pantera or rage is good. Go get em!

My problem is eating healthy! Lol

Seriously, do it for yourself and no one else. It does help to have a workout buddy. I use little tricks like a cadence or counting steps. At my age, I'm slowly getting back into it. I look at pictures of my younger self and that works.

Oh I agree I think the loss of my workout buddy that has killed my MOJO and that is not going to change in a hurry, my main motivation is usually getting work out of my head and feeling human again..

It helps me to have energy throughout the day. If I don't get moving I tend to feel sluggish all day.

OMG what is your secret after a long day dealing with "client issues" it takes a real feat to strap on my jogging shoes..

I think that depends on how vain you are. It works for me because I look in the mirror and see what I could be. But I'm bad for shit like that. And it seriously is just vanity for me. I have to admit that I don't really give a shit how healthy I am. I want to be hot.

Well, if you live where it's cold and lock the door when you go outside naked, then that's sufficient motivation to exercise.

If you really want to see what you look like take a photo.. it is funny how we tend to pretend we see things in a mirror but call up a photo on a screen and you get a different Reality..

Well I don't have client issues to stress me out, but my workout is first thing in the morning, Mon-Fri. Weekends I force myself out the door even on crummy days, even if only to walk the dog, or I'd be on the couch reading all day.

What motivates me?
Sex.
Sex is waaaay better when I'm feeling all healthy and bits aren't wobbling!
:D
