"Thank you Kate," was all he said before she turned and walked back to her office and began the shit work he had told Jameson to place upon her for saying what she did earlier. But again, that was fine with her, somebody had to do it so why bitch about it and just do it and get it done. Not to long after she had just started everything he buzzed her office, Kate picked the line up and said "Hello" into the receiver.
"Kate, Donna says that Roger Craig is here. Will you bring him in. I'd like you to sit in with us, please." Her boss said.
"Yes Sir, Mr. Nash." she answered and hug up grabbing her pen and legal pad and headed out of the office into the waiting room where there was only one man standing looking out the window at the view. "Beautiful view isn't it?" Kate asked him and as he turned around he gave her a big smile. "Mr. Craig?" She asked just to make sure.
"Yes Ma'am" he stated.
"Welcome, I'm Kate Mr. Nash's new assistant. Will you please follow me he's waiting for you in his office." Kate responded and turned around and led him down the hallway and into the office. The whole time she could feel his eyes running up and down the back of her checking her out, taking every inch that he could of her in.
Kate listened as her boss greeted the man. He complimented Kate as Kate smiled and took a seat aside Roger Craig. Kate crossed her legs and sat with her pen in one hand and her legal pad on her knee keeping a firm hold on it ready to take notes. Kate heard the reply from Mr. Craig and glanced her eyes at her boss and then the other man, making her a little uncomfortable but she managed to let a soft smile linger.
Kate listened as her boss began to speak, she was quick with shorthand and began writing down everything that seemed important, name, numbers and places. She made sure she caught everything as she kept her head down and just continued to write. Once he mentioned her name she glanced up, offered another smile and nodded and just continued listening and taking notes to be able to refer back to them later on if need be. Kate made sure she even wrote Mr. Craig's responses down incase something came back to bite them in the ass, she could refer back to what was said and what was asked. If anything there were times some called her thorough, but to her that was a great trait to have in the world of business.
She looked up, glanced out the window a second and then as she heard a comment made by her boss her eyes looked directly into his, and his into hers. The game was a great match in every sense of the word because like him, she if she went after something she wanted, she got it. Kate watched him lean back after saying it, she herself did the same as she placed the pen to her lips and slipped the end tip in and back out of her mouth for a few moments in a tease. She then moved back and forth across her soft pink colored lips and then pulled it back and started to write anything more he was saying that was important.
He looked over to her as she leaned her head back and made eye contact with her boss. "Katie, would you please work with Mr. Craig. Provide him any information he needs and plan on doing a presentation on this deal for the Winstar Board next month in New York City. Have Jameson schedule our arrangements once Roger gets us dates. Don't torpedo this deal,"
"Yes Sir, Mr. Nash." Kate replied and wrote it down on her legal pad with an star beside it.
Kate smiled as she was once again spoke about. When he said about keeping her all to himself, Kate doubted that would be the case. She wasn't like him, she wasn't married what she chooses to do and whit whom, when and where was up to her. Even if the man offered her a job for him, it would be her choice to decline or accept. Would she? She was 90% sure she wouldn't and that wasn't because her boss had such a great personality she'd stick around but because this morning she saw what he was capable of doing from the heart but hell, he could have done it to make points with her. To Kate it didn't matter she was fine where she currently was and didn't plan on going anywhere unless he fired her.
"Katie, will you meet with Mr. Craig and go over any finalities we need to get things moving? I would appreciate it." Mr. Nash said to her as she hated being called 'Katie', it made her feel like she was a young girl again. Her name was Kate, not Katie, she wasn't 12 anymore. Kate didn't allow the displeasure of the name show, she just smiled and responded.
"Would be a pleasure Mr. Nash," she said as she stood up looking between both men. Mr. Craig stood and turned walking towards the door, she and her boss went next as she felt his hand on the small of hr back where it was bare since the jumpsuit was backless.
He leaned in and whispered into her ear, asking her to take care of all Mr. Craig's needs and explaining his itinerary. he wanted her to have the car ready at four, which wasn't a problem, she had the perfect dress to wear to the theater, she was glad she over packed for the unknown before they left. "I will do as asked Mr. Nash and will see you at four on the dot." Once that was said they parted ways, him to his meeting and she met up with Mr. Craig and asked him if he'd like a drink or a snack. With the look in his eyes she knew she would be the snack if he wasn't in a business situation at the moment. Men were easy to read when you worked/been around them long enough.
Kate led him to a conference room and asked him to have a seat that she would return in a moment with the financials and his drink. She walked back to her office and was gathering papers and the folder, her legal pad and out of the corner of her eye she saw a shadow. Turning her head she smiled as her boss poked his head into her office."I'm going in, If anyone needs me, it will have to wait until we're done."
"Yes Sir, Mr. Nash" she replied as he left walking down the hall and she left getting coffee for Mr. Craig and going into the room where he was waiting for her. She sat across from him, her eyes glanced down to his left hand, no ring. She looked back to him, "I have the financials here so we can go over them." Kate opened the folder and she began pulling pages out and explaining them to him.
They got along really well, he was a bit older than her but they found out they had a few things in common. She and him talked about the meeting that had taken place, Kate eased his concerns by showing him the numbers, the percentages and what the end result of this plan could be dollar wise. By the end of the meeting he had asked her to dinner that evening but she declined. Kate had told him she already had a meeting that evening and apologized. He asked if they could exchange numbers, and she did without hesitation. he stated they could get together in the near future if she'd like. They ended the meeting between them, she walked him to the elevator and went to her office.
Kate sat and typed up the notes from both meetings, making sure she had double checked everything and then tucked away the original notes into a folder in her drawer with the meeting name and date on the tab. She knew to never get rid of the real notes till a year later just in case.
Going back to her original work load, she started going through employee names once more as she was told to do that morning. The day went by rather quickly, she hadn't had time to look at the clock and when she finally did it was three, she called down and had the car ready for four as told to by the boss man.
"Kate, Donna says that Roger Craig is here. Will you bring him in. I'd like you to sit in with us, please." Her boss said.
