There are three main motivations for posting here.

1, To have your political opinions reinforced by those who agree with you.
2, To vent your anger at those who hold views that differ from your own.
3, To solicit a range of opinions on topics you find to be interesting, in order to better understand both the issues and the reasoning behind the opposing opinions.

Yes, I am just venting my frustration.

Here's something you can relate to when it comes to why there is so much animosity.

It's earned. There's no middle ground.

This was a valid option back when more people based their opinions on facts rather than lies they found comforting.

Birds of a feather philosophy. Okay, I'll go along with that, but that's just preening or patting oneself on the back.
2, To vent your anger at those who hold views that differ from your own.
That's evident and often done with derision, or even accompanied by lewd remarks. Perhaps it's not 'anger' but 'attempts to reason' with those others. Venting anger leads to retaliation by others here, a proven fact.

A noble endeavor. If only more of us did this, we'd have more civil discourse.

Well... that's not often found here, is it?

Fair enough.

It doesn’t address the issue / matter of how long an intelligent mind should suffer fools, racists, fascists, and enablers of sexual predators (MAGAts) or tolerate a "President" (DonOld Trump) that is a sexual predator, a racist, a traitor, an imbecile, and a threat to democracy, America, and the world, but, fair enough…

😑

We. Told. Them. So.

I read your last line, the one in fine print.

I think you missed two of the main motivations for why many people post here, which are to get attention that many humans are no longer getting in their "off-screen" life and to anonymously express their anger about their growing sense of anomie.

Those two motivations help to explain the increase in nihilism, cynicism and cruelty in politics. The more people type shit on tiny screens, the less time they spend doing what humans were evolved to do for the past 100,000 years, which is face-to-face interactions..

Anomie is not cured in the faceless virtual world. It is enhanced, because the faceless virtual world shields posters from accountability.
