A lot of you are university students suffering from exam stress and perhaps not realizing how much stress you are under and its ability to torpedo your university and career options.

Here are some of the common signs of exam stress...I've seen several of them in a few of you:

* Decision making becomes difficult.

* Difficulty in getting to sleep due to worrying about tomorrow.

* Feelings of guilt when relaxing.

* Feeling tense, impatient or irritable, feeling the need to interrupt when others are talking.

* Feeling frustrated when people don't/won't do what you want.

* Feeling that you have too much to think about and finding concentration difficult.

* Drinking or smoking more than usual.

* Loss of appetite or a tendency to eat hurriedly.

* A tendency to argue more.

* Life seems full of crises.

There are lots of good resources online; here's a page full of links for you:

I used to beat stress by never studying and found the fewer classes I went to, the higher my grades. YMMV.

Bon chance!

We have the same approach, and yet you keep telling me I should be studying.

Fun fact - I've made my best grades in the classes I've studied the least for. :)

Only 1 exception to that.

while I'm the exact opposite of Lav, I was absolutely astounded by all the Tax stuff she knew last night - having gone to class only periodically and yesterday being the first day we studied it.

some people are lucky, I guess.

as for exam stress, after 6 1/2 years, I'm so used to it, I find myself actually looking forward to it. There's nothing like the adrenaline rush of finals time (although this year's rush is significantly more diminshed).

She's been doing her cramming at a Lit affiliate.

Surprisingly, one of my best semesters ever was a semester I never went to class. I was paranoid about my grades. I had 5 classes that semester and attended a grand total of 12 classes - 3 in one class, 2 in another, and stuff like that. When I got my grades I wasn't sure I wanted to look at them - I got a 3.96. Those were the highest marks from anyone in my program.

Unfortunately, last semester, I studied my ass off for one class, got to the exam and realized it was a joke. The exam was so easy there was no way to differentiate yourself with all of the additional knowledge you had. I got a 2.7 in that class. Pissed me off.

One thing I've learned from law school - don't study too much. Study enough to get by - and get a good outline. :)

I'm a straight A kind of gal. I try not to stress too much, either. Still, what seems to be slack-ass behavior turns out to be obsessive compulsive, according to other students in my program. So, I guess I stay on top of my stuff no matter what.

lucky you...when I slack the only thing I learn to do well is to win Microsoft Hearts against the computer.

I figured it was time to quit last night when I won 0-104-104-104
