Ex-military.

Seems to mean a different thing in the states.

try.. have you ever fired a long range missile into a civilian area? have you ever bombed your allies in 'error' its yank for aka ex armed forces

I think it means, Mighty Internets Warrior whose Word is Gospel, while in England it means 'no longer in the service'.

not to be too picky here.. but in England we are all in service.. the service of God, it is our duty to eradicate papism.

Funny, isn't it? Torchy, Appleby, me all ex army. We all did our thing but never claimed to be SAS.

Sorry, I'm still deciding whether to go with the Cathars or the Romans. I've no time to worry about your modern plagues.

For you, it means that you're no longer an IRA member.

er... the ira have strict selection critera.. being a knob head is first point, fail that and you fail the entrance test.

saddens me to say it, but i doubt sean would pass.

Almost all UK men of a certain age had to do National Service in the Army, Navy or Air Force. Most endured it. Some enjoyed it. Some died in action doing it.

Since National Service ended, being 'ex-military' doesn't have a real significance in the UK except for those who actually saw real action in the Falklands or the Middle East.

Being an ex-officer is different because the required standard to become an officer is still high. But even then, it isn't much help in finding employment. It used to be. Ex-officers were sought after, but not in the 21st century.

My old man did National Service. He still complains about his war wound. He dropped a clarinet on his toe.

Excellent summation. I wonder if my father and grandfather were good at the internets that they would act like these tools.

I live across the street from a former Marine gunnery sergeant, now associate American History professor. He is no EX-military, he is former Marine gunnery sergeant. As he explains it, EX means you were "less than honorably discharged" from the service, you were divorced from the military.

I once toured Quantico for a day and part of the tour was a stop at their rifle range. I own a rifle with a scope. From this day forward, I am a Marine Scout Sniper (retired). I won't claim any kills, but occasionally I have murdered logic.

I can shoot, have shot. My kills include, but not limited to:

Racoons
Foxes
Squirells
Deer (in season)
Pine
Oak
Ash

This qualifies you to claim Internet SEAL Sniper as your ex-military title.

Unfortunately, I can't claim it, since I failed the initial physical: my eyesight was deemed beyond tolerable myopia. I did, however, help serve my country: I tutored the NCOs and a few officers at the Navy Depot in the fine art of computer technology, taught them how to use the new fangled computers..and how to play Pac-Man

You're going to let facts and reality stand between yourself and being a mighty internets ex-military warrior? You taught naval combat tactics.
