Evolution is backed by loads of physical scientific evidence and study, ID is fiction promulgated by people who don't know and refuse to learn what the scientific method entails.

I was going to say this thread was a poor idea, since the opinions are so entrenched that no nuanced discussion would be possible. Then I realized what a handy future reference point it will be: if at any stage I am engaged in conversation with someone on Lit and I want to ensure they are not crazy/stupid, I'll check what they posted here. An infallible marker.

I therefore urge all members to post here immediately.

There's no such thing as "nuanced discussion" where religion is concerned.

I have to say the evidence in favor of evolution is pretty overwhelming. Could the ability to evolve have been part of the original design?

The evidence isn't overwhelming, it's established fact since we have at least two creatures, man and horse, which we can trace back to earlier forms.

Further, ID relies on an "I don't know, God did it", which is as far from the scientific method as one can get.

For those who believe life was designed, I have one word for you: platypus.

Which design, the one when animals were first created, the change when Adam and Eve were cursed, or the change when the Great Flood happened?
 
I believe in God

I dont believe in evolution... because evolution is fact and doesn't require faith

I can be very wrong about God.. but I cant be wrong about evolution

Intelligent design and creation are NOT necessarily considered to be the same thing.

Intelligent design could be interference from unknown beings jacking around with DNA after Evolution had a ago at it.

Neither works for me.
