True enough but it become instiutionalized as a ritual deal between retailers and consumers. Now retailers will jump the gun a little hoping for extra sales and a chance to test out the market. This logic leads to a merger of Thanksgiving and Christmas methinks.

Early improves cash flow for retailers, if the stuff is at your house retailers bank the money for some extra interest...interest you lose giving them the money sooner.

I love that I live in a culture where the biggest shopping day of the year is the day after we're supposed to be thankful for what we have and learn humility. FYI it's also 'Native American History Month'.
