Simply because I just got curious and therefore figured out how to "go there," I just went through - name by name, page by page - every registered member here at Lit.

Whew!!!! Double Whew!!!!

I didn't keep track, too much work of course - (maybe we can politely ask Laurel to crunch the numbers for us sometime, but I only suggest this in thinking that, via her IT magic, she can obtain these numbers in some easy fashion - but what the fuck do I know?) - but it appears to me, at a casual glance…………

That registered Lit members with postings in triple-digits runs well under 10%. Probably well, well under. Lit members with double-digit postings appear to run somewhere in under 20% and single-digits about the same. That means 50% of registered members have not posted a thing.

They've just registered. Hmmmmm?

Noting that I took a look at "when" they had registered. To be sure many of the low posters have only recently registered. They may have not had the time to post anything yet.

But, but, but - I don't think so. Not most of them.

Some clearly register to promote a vectored agenda - they have Websites. And man I tell ya - curiosity will grab you and butt fuck you every time. I was enticed by "nudeasian" (?I think that was it?) wherein her profile jumped at me - sexy 18 yr. old Japanese/American student - blah, blah, blah (if you can believe that, which I did) - and she's got a Website - I click and get a damn string of cookies out the wazzoo. You!!!!!!!!!

Anyway - ya got those types - but only a few.

But most of these dormant appearing registries seem to be from what I might refer to as, "normal, horney, erotic junkies," guys for the most part (hey I'm one and most of you all are) you can tell by there nicks (Pistonman, LickR2x's, and Red - he likes trains) who stumble in here (as I did) and start fumbling around - and find out, hey(!) - "they can register here."

And who knows? If they do - maybe they'll, "get some action," one way or the other. Maybe some beautiful author'ess will respond to one of their thank-you e-mails! Right? Have, what'd you'all call it - cyber? A little pull the pud & rubbin' the nubbin'. And maybe it'll be so good they'll meet, yeah - and she'll take him away from his flesh folded house frau - to the switch-yard to watch trains and make love. Choo-choo…. I think I can, I think I can….

So they register here and simply sit there like wall flower's and wait - and wait - and wait. Nothing happens of course so - they go away, forever (forlorn and staring at trains) - but their registry - simply sits there dormant. Taking up space.

Taking up space.

{By the way: This is what most (lonely, normal, humble) guys do in bars, or at a party - and in life. They go, they sit, they look, they dream, they get sleepy and then they go home. Nobody hit on them in the bar tonight - oh well maybe next Saturday night. But until then it's all spaghetti, Monday night football, the Simpson's and Next Generation.}

Taking up space.

Maybe there's policy - I wouldn't know haven't been here long enough. Like, after a year of dormancy these things get deleted. Maybe not. Maybe there's an auto, cyber vacuum cleaner that sucks up these long gone Sad Sacks and sends them to cyber lint heaven.

And please don't get me wrong here - this little trivial realization doesn't bother me in the least - why would it? It is rather trivial. It's just something I noticed in my first excursion there.

Maybe I just want your all's opinion on it. What do you think of all the seemingly dormant registries on the board?

There is a feature on that member thingy that will order it by number of posts from Laurel to 0, or by date registered, that sort of business. Coulda saved some time Sweetness.

Thanks to this thread, I did some searching of my own. From what I can gather, the first post was by Manu welcoming everyone to the board.

If this was actually the first post, then the Literotica Discussion Board celebrates it's first birthday TOMORROW! If anyone can verify this, I would be grateful.

We're considering something of that sort. What you guys don't know is that these touted new scripts we're installing use the BB database. Meaning, any author who adds a story to Literotica is automatically given a BB account with the same password. In the not so distant future, an author will submit a story by 1) creating an account on the site (assuming he doesn't have one); 2) log into his account on the site, which takes him to his version of his member page where he can change his stats, bio, pic, password, email, etc.; 3) click the "submit story", "submit poem", or whatever and follow the bouncing ball, so to speak. This story will then go in my queue. I'll read it, edit it (for obvious grammar & punctuation errors, as well as breaking up large paragraphs), and approve it (or not).

Therefore, if we set the BB to automatically prune users without posts, it'd remove a good chunk of the authors from the site and take their stories and submissions with them. Optimally, I'd like to set up a system whereby I (or Manu) would manually go through a list of users who haven't posted within 3 months or so. Any non-authors who have no posts would be sent a reminder of their BB account. If they don't post within a month of that, they'll be deleted.

Or something like that. We're still working on the specifics, but having a database full of non-users is a concern.

Yep, that's the first one. A year? Wild...

Auuugh! No wait, it was August 26, not September! We missed it. Crud.

Maybe we should celebrate anyway? One year and one month, a baker's dozen of the BB?

Where's my Wild Turkey?

Happy birthday number one Lit BB!!!! Happy birthday Laurel and Manu. Happy birthday ya minx Kitten Eyes.

Of course Leo's forever too.

Not sure about it but ...

... this site has MUCH MORE to offer than the stories and the BB - namely : The Chat.

Lots of people use and FREQUENTLY use the chat but NEVER come to the BB to post. Now I could be wrong but from all I know the same member profiles are showing up when someone opens the profile of a person in chat - so could it be that simply those with "no use" are simply chatters who don't frequent the BB?

And I think the chat is where most people register anyway cause I think I remember that when registered you can haca chosen symbol to go with your handle and you can "protect" your name so nobody can "imposter" you (just as on the BB it is annoying if you are a regular chatter and somone ruins your "reputation" by using your handle.

Not sure actually - as I said before - if that is the case here ....

and anyway - Happy belated B-Day Lit :)

"Happy Birthday Literotica!"

"WOW 13 months old already.

I have been around since March(Lurking) and I registered in June.(Daaa,Why did I wait so long to register?)

I really have come to enjoy this site.I check it out most every day to see whats hot and whats not.

"Now come here my sweet Laurel,so I can give you your Birthday Spanking!"(LMAO)

"Does that make me a ass-kisser because I said sweet & Laurel in the same sentence?"Chuckle Chuckle

Sparky, I'm worried about you, again--

Either you have wy too much time on your hands or you are completely losing it. Are you okay???

Nah - I'm fine....

Too much meaningless time perhaps. But whatever gets ya through the day - and with me it's always been day by day. Normal. It's all in there - all the time. For me.

Pshew----

As ole blue sighs with relief upon hearing that his buddy, Sparky, is O.K.
