Why does every guy who writes a story in 1st person start the story with some variation of "I have a huge dick. "

Every guy? Why does every poster give a reason to stop reading the post by starting off with a sweeping generalization?

Because it's sexual fantasy.

When they're writing, they want to imagine their partner gasping and their eyes going wide, not rolling on the floor laughing, or responding with a bland, "Oh," when she yanks his pants down.

That being said, most people who start a story that way are probably new to writing erotica, and that's almost certainly a fraction of the cliches they're utilizing. Not all, but most. That's the type of writing that turns some on, both to read and write. There's an audience here for it, like there is for anything else.

And sometimes, a braggadocios guy who's hung like a horse is the whole point of the story.

Welcome to the dark side of Literotica mcfbridge — I mean the Author's hangout of course. Just took a peek at your published stories and have to say congratulations on your achievements. You've been here longer than I have and been much busier writing than me.

I think RejectReality gave as good of a response as possible. Humanity really is impossible to figure out because no two of us are exactly alike in our weirdness. And we're all weird. One would think it would be every heterosexual woman author that would start her stories out like that — you know, just out of frustration of that which is missing in her life :D

I have six 1st-person male POV stories/series.
"Ghost in the Machine"
"The Temptation of Gheeran"
"The Rembrandt Legacy"
"More Than Video Games"
"Dramatic License"
"Dagger & Crystal"

Zero out of six start with the narrator's dick size. Most don't even reference the protag's dick size. Statement invalidated.

OP, find a smaller brush when making such grand proclamations.

I'm still trying to figure out why some people care how other people start their stories.

Note the use of 'some' which removes the broad sweeping generalization of 'everyone' and sounds like much less of an assumption and an attack. Word choices...think about them.

I don't wanna fight, LC, but it's "every guy who starts a story". The "some" refers to "variation of dick size".

"Every guy" seems as broad a stroke as one can get. :)

I think people care as readers reading the works of others. If you don't care about what the author is doing, why do you care to read at all?

I would guess that, most of the time, I can tell within five paragraphs or so whether I'm going to like a story or not. If the author has gone to the trouble to start it well there's a far better chance that the rest of it is good, too. So, as a reader, I care very, very much how authors start their stories.

That's what this sort of dialogue is about. It's not about dictating to other authors "Do it my way." It's about sharing how we react as readers. That seems (to me) to be useful information to share. I, for one, am very curious how other author/readers react to what they read, and I'm glad they share it here.

As an exercise, I'm thinking of starting a short story with the line, "It's not easy having a 10-inch penis." and seeing what I can come up with.

As a reader I read what appeals to-like most I imagine-if it starts with some sort of personal speed bump I might give it a little bit to see if it gets better(IMO) or sometimes back click.

But I don't question why anyone does it and do it in a negative sense that people shouldn't do it. Every guy can start his story the way they want to, and others shouldn't judge it.

The fact the OP has written quite a bit here and has some impressive scores is what ticks me off because I think if anything once you start writing you normally discover a bit more tolerance in how others write because you know its a labor of love/hard work.

I find an author attacking the way someone writes more offensive than a reader doing it.

That's just my take, I'm not looking to argue or debate it. I speak for me not 'everyone'

No arguing.

I know what the some was in regards to, but its coupled with every guy

Every guy starts a story with SOME variation...and some variation sort of infers back to every guy writes about a big dick just maybe in a different way

My comment was I don't know why some(because obviously its not everyone) care what other people do with their stories.

And I have now officially spent too much time on this:eek:

The guy writing it has a small dick and wants to compensate by writing about himself with a big dick.

Let me see... I have 163 stories, about half are in first person POV and none... absolutely none start with any kind of description of the male anatomy. Or any description of the female anatomy for the matter.

Heh. One of my stories mentions dick size, but only because it's integral to the story.

In every other story, the guy is very much an everyman, and neither he nor the people he's with care about his dick.

To RejectReality's point, they're still male fantasies, but instead of giving the guy rippling abs and a clydesdale cock, the fantasy is he's a decent human being who somehow still manages to get laid.

Suzie looked at the torn open parcel wrapper on the kitchen table.

"Simon's been ordering things from the back page of comics again. I wonder what it is this time?" She turned the wrapper over. "Hmmm. Inspector Sherlock's new, improved magnifying glass. Twice the magnification, double the fun."

She flitted away, her pert bottom bouncing, looking gorgeous in the X-Ray Specs Simon thought he'd lost the month before.

Simon's mom looked up. "He doesn't need X-Ray Specs with me." She smiled, knowingly. "Pass the sugar, would you, dear."

EB pushed the bowl across the table. Being stuck inside was kinda fun ;).

It's not easy having a 10-inch penis. Sometimes it's really hard!

On a related note, why does every gal who writes a story in 1st person start the story with some variation of "I have huge 36DD breasts"?

Oh, wait. I think know that one...

A few years (decades ?) ago, there was a mens magazine which featured a letters section. One letter I particularly remember came from a woman who'd said that after months of practice, she'd managed to accommodate her boyfriend's enormous dick. Then he left her. The editor's response was a gem:
"You have our sympathy, madam".

With that exact wording, this could also be a statement from someone on the receiving end, with “having” in the sense of getting. The dialog could also employ the boilerplate statement made by far too many people in television interviews, “Thanks for having me.”

You know, I don't read a lot of first person male narration, but I haven't encountered that.

Plenty of other foibles and tropes related to size, but never anything as crude as cock size within the opening scene.

Yeah, can't relate.

I write almost all my stories in FP, and an awful lot from the male POV, and I can't recall mentioning cock size in the opening paragraph, let alone sentence. I rarely mention it at all, in fact.

So that leaves my reading. I do read here a bit, and I'll be honest: maybe I'm just more selective than the OP, but I can't remember too many stories that start out that way.

I feel like I've seen stories the OP is complaining about, but I'd back out of a story immediately if it started that way, so I've never read one.

EC seemed like a good place to find such stories, so I looked at all of the one-shot stories on the hub. I think I found one from a male POV, and it didn't start with a dick size.

I ran a search for "have a big dick" and the search did produce stories with that in the opening. Some were from the female POV.

I'm inclined to think the OP needs to widen his search criteria. Stop searching for "ten inch dick" and he'll probably find intelligent stories like the rest of us do.

Maybe he's trying to be the new Noir. This is the kind of thing he used to do - lob in something vaguely provocative and sit back and watch the fish rise. Although I do see this bloke's wandered off. At least Noir would sit around and watch the fun.
