I've been having some problems with thins computer for probably a few months on and off. Everytime I think I have it fixed, something else crops up.

Yet, I have never done a full system backup --- didn't even know how for sure.

Well, about a week ago, I decided to give it a shot and was able to get one done. I also copied some files to an external drive. Some, but not all.

Well, yesterday, the thing crapped out but good. Wouldn't boot at all. Nothing.

Had another hard drive on hand in anticipation of upgrading but hadn't started the process yet.

Installed the new drive and was able to use the backup to do a near full restoration and get back to almost where I was. All except those last few files that for all intents and purposes don't really matter.

I have no idea WHY I did that full back up WHEN I did.

The history books are fulla anecdotes of people performing fortuitous deeds with no conscious motivation behind the action. I explain it as a vestige of our ancient minds that operates 'instinctually' for lack of a better word. Animals cant think, they do or don't do, and their motivation is either based on physical needs or 'instincts.' When we cant articulate our motivation the act was prolly an unconscious agenda.

Example: Many years ago my eldest daughter dated the manager of the McDonalds she worked for. She, her sisters, and my wife loved the guy, I hated him the minute I saw him. They all thought I was nutty until it came to light that he was stealing money from all the cashiers' drawers and punishing them for the missing cash. Some part of me sensed he was a bastard,

Recently, on a lark, I applied for a job I had no interest in. No idea why I applied other than to say it was a whim.

Yeah...But she needed a fucking!

Seriously!

Quite obviously, God inspired you to backup that crap.
