And you just can't decide which to do.

I'll ask you to please forgive a bit of a rant here I'm in a mood.

There are times when you get comments that are helpful as hell. Some swell your heart with pride, make you happy that this is your hobby, passion, or trade.

Then there are times when you just want to tells someone...the list of thing you want them to do is endless. Most are impossible with human anatomy.

I know that I'm not a great writer. I make no claims to that. I am a good storyteller. Now if my writing ever catches up with that...then I might make claims to some messure of skill.

Till then i write. Because there is no other way to get better. Yea I read a lot of books on grammar I'm doing the best I can at this time to improve. I have a lot of problims with things hommonyms being one of the worst.

I don't have money to take classes...so i write.

I don't have the education to make things perfect...so i write even more.

In one years time I have posted 50 plus stories here. Score wise I've not done too bad. Been in the top ten of three contests...for what thats worth.

got more than a couple in the 480s, several 470s. Shrug. I attribute that to storytelling not writing ability.

Now to the meat of my rant. I do not mind bad comments. I have a very tough skin when it comes to that kind of thing because as I said I already know I have problims.

I don't mind them...but!

When i get comment after comment by people that are telling me how bad my writing is and they have not a single story to their credit here? Well it brings me back to the title of this little rant.

The whole of this forum seems to be people asking for an editor. So they must be in short supply...since it's not a list of editors going "someone need help?"

So getting an Editor is not a easy task and in truth I would rather learn to do my own editing too a better level.

I know I can't be the only one to feel this way. To get steamed when someone without a single story tells you how bad you are.

Lol.

Well i guess I'll go with laughter. All cussing seem to do is make my blood presure rise.

And I'll write.

I'll read the comments that piss me off a bit and laugh...and write the next one.

Again my apologizess for taking up your time with what is a rather personal bit of bile.

Have a good night everyone, and if you feel the same kind of ire... well have a laugh with the SCA pirate. (or at my exspense... so long as you laugh.)

Grin.

The comments that piss me off are the ones that make me want to ask how the commenter stumbled onto a porn site to begin with--and into the category I wrote in.

And, yes, there's a level of "good enough" presentation wise for Literotica and fuck the nitpickers who will drop a 1 and a negative comment on 3 word choices/renderings out of 3,000 in a story.

Don't feel bad, we seem to get favourited and unfavourited a lot. I edit for my man and one of my edited copies was rejected. Or I'll look again and realise I missed something big. Editing is a lot of work, though. I can understand why they are in short supply.

As for bad comments...Well, we haven't really experienced much in comments at all, just the lookers :p I would just shrug it off, the internet sucks for positive people, sometimes.

One of life's great mysteries is: Everyone is an expert about everything.

I have a special book I re-read occasionally. The author is a world famous pediatric heart surgeon who talks about his cases and students. His credentials and status are so supreme you wouldn't think a mere student would go against this guys instructions, but they do, all the time. He makes it clear that the student is to stay away from specific places that are prone to create huge problems, and they go there and create crises he has to fix, and then they have no excuse to justify their insubordination. But plenty of students do it. Its like a weird compulsion to get in harms way.

So I'm not surprised that non-writers know so much about writing.

Not to be a total dick (Although it will sound that way I'm sure) but that logic has to go both ways, right? I mean we all love the praise, but we hate the bile. If one non-writer thinks you suck, and another non-writer thinks you're great, do we just assume the one that likes our work is right?

They can, of course, both be right (and wrong)--from their own perspective.

Flip-side to that: sometimes people with great credentials get so blinded by their own legend that they start thinking they're infallible. The worst air disaster in history (Tenerife 1977) happened when KLM's most experienced pilot misunderstood what ATC was telling him, and it's widely speculated that his co-pilot was unwilling to second-guess somebody with such an impressive record.

(Of course, it doesn't mean people should *ignore* the voice of experience, just that they shouldn't be afraid to question it.)
