Eureka

Read RED WIND by Raymond Chandler last night. I think its his first Philip Marlowe story. Lotsa action from the git-go.

It happened again.

Went to the library yesterday and brought home two Lawrence Block noir novels.

Now! Noir is s'posed to be bleak and dreary and cynical; there are no good guys. So I read the first chapter of Block's novel about a serial killer. The chapter is a report of how the serial killer goes to a baseball game, has a marvelous time, and is tempted to eat a 2nd hot dog, they taste so yummy.

I, on the other hand, started story #56 with a hired killer ambushing 2 cops and a social worker, shooting the wounded social worker in the head as she tries to crawl away to safety. The killer then stops at a dam on the way home and catches a dozen Snook with a cast-net. Illegal.
