Jim nervously sat at the patio bar and he knew he looked it. His fingers strumming on the table as he tried to distract himself by reading on his phone. It wasn't working. Each time the restaurants door opened he would look up hoping, even dreading that it was her. For the most part it was couples coming for an evening meal and whenever a woman walked in she would quickly joining her party. Still without fail when the doors opened his head would dart up from his phone to see who came out next. Funny since he wasn't even sure who he was looking for. Aside from some body shots he had never actually seen the face of the escort he hired.
He never actually thought he would ever need to hire an escort. It's not like he was unattractive. At 6'0" and 174 lbs with his athletic build and his social personality the brown haired man has been with his share of women in his 33 years. The main obstacle was his job. He has been working at Miller & Miller law firm since he started college and quickly risen up the corporate ladder. Unfortunately for as much time as he dedicated to the job his personal life suffered. Starting in the mail room he was now a lawyer with a chance at tackling the big cases. That is if he could convince the higher ups that he was dating someone.
While his friends were settling down and having kids he was doing the legwork on cases and making the right connections. And as good as he was at his job he knew his being single was a big deal. The firm was family-owned and he could tell they looked down on him for never settling down. Wanting to tackle a major case that had opened up he had casually mentioned that he had a steady girlfriend hoping it would help. Before he knew it he had been invited to a corporate function with the Millers insisting he bring her. Without nobody else to turn to and nobody to he hired an escort at the suggestion of a friend. After arranging everything with the company they were set to meet at a nearby bar and to wear a blue handkerchief in his pocket so she would recognize him.
Having been there for half an hour Jim was ready to call it a night. He started pondering excuses he could use when he arrived. 'She was feeling sick' or 'she got off a hellish shift at the hospital.' Sure they were lies but he was sure he could sell them on it. As he played with the blue cloth in his shirt pocket his breathe was taken away by the woman who walked in. Wearing a simple black dress she looked immaculate. Despite some looks from men around the patio she seemed to be walking towards him. As she closed in on Jim's table he quickly realized that he recognized her. A recent college graduate she had been hired to be an assistant around the office. More importantly she had been assigned to Jim for her first assignment.
"Hello there Melissa," he said before finishing his beer.
