Error message: Too many redirects

Would love to hear an update on this as well, its frustrating beyond belief, i'm not clearing my cookies before every page turn.

do you VPN by chance? I have mine auto-on, thinking maybe that could be it. Or maybe set the browser to never save (or maybe always save) the literotica cookies? Idk, it makes the site almost unusable though, i feel your pain!

Please help, Literotica!

things to try:

  1. Add a second browser to your Device. I use DuckDuckGo’s privacy browser for all sordid activities that I may or may not engage in. It’s a great idea, keep your real life and sordid secret lives from crossing, whether you have connection problems or not. Try it. Do it whether it helps or not.
  2. Clear your cookies/history. Most browsers have a way to clear them for just one site rather than all of them. That’s worth investigating. Too many advice sites have people do things that cause great inconvenience, such as clearing ALL history, passwords, resetting an entire device, etc. don’t believe every piece of advice you read, including mine.
  3. see if your vpn has a whitelist feature. Perhaps you make it treat Literotica as special.
  4. VPNs are mostly good, but not all are perfect. Try at least temporarily turning it off to see what happens.
  5. Here’s a pretty well written article. https://helpdeskgeekt.com/help-desk/how-to-fix-err_too_many_redirects-in-google-chrome/. (I did try the redirect test it mentions. Literotica appears to be ok. ).

The funny thing about my encounter with this same issue is that it happens when using Samsung Internet on my Galaxy phone, so it's not just limited to one "side's" browser or the other. It's a site-wide issue that site staff doesn't seem to give two fucks about, given the lack of progress in fixing it. And I don't have VPN or parental controls or anything "extra" on my connection.

Edge works fine
Firefox craps out. Fresh install, fresh windows. Firefox refuses.

I don’t want to sound too much like a lit defender. Parts of the site are a little embarrassing.

However, this problem, clearly a real one, still happens only to a small percentage of users.

So, to make yourself easier to help:
If more folks gave a rundown of their overall computing environments, including their phone or computer operating system, their browser and their specific antivirus program, plus bonus points for mentioning their router, things like whether they’re using the parental controls etc on the router, their ISP, what dns server they use (if they know that sort of thing), whether or not it behaves the same at home and away from home, there would be more of a chance of spotting a pattern.

The more info each person provides, the greater the chances of spotting a pattern.

I get this, too.

iPadOS, iOS, Safari, Private Relay on or off, no VPN, only when logged in, multiple wifi networks and even cellular network. This seems to be a bug in how auth.literotica.com redirects back to the page which then redirects back to auth. and so it loops. It's been going on for a long time, so multiple releases of iOS/iPadOS (yes, it happens on both).

From the “this is worth a try” files, look through this article and try its advice for your combination of device and browser.

https://techwiser.com/hard-refresh-any-browser-mobile-pc/

on computers it’s relatively straightforward. On phones, it’s still easy but may take three or four steps. Read carefully and stay flexible particularly on how/where to find the settings, since that sometimes changesthrough software updates.

In all likelihood there is something not configured perfectly at Literotica also, but they aren’t capable of fixing it. Finding alternative workarounds is your only hope.

No guarantees, but for the few seconds or minutes this takes, it’s worth trying.

This happens to me once in a while, on a variety of different devices and browsers.

Clearing all literotica.com cookies fixes this, for me, when it happens.

I leave it to you to consult your own device's/browser's documentation to figure out how to do that on your own hardware/software.

This problem is usually caused by timestamps which can make the server and client bounce back and forth instead of finishing processing the command. The request loop is limited to 20 times to stop the system going into an infinite loop, hence the 'too many redirects' message.

Redirects are controlled by a file on the server which is handing off between the authorization section and another part of the site such as chat. Timestamps are used to prevent hacking through replay attacks which could compromise user IDs and passwords.

Cookies and VPNs can cause problems if they go out of sync which is why some people see this message. The simplest fix is to browse the site in incognito mode which means cookies aren't being set or referenced. VPNs usually sort themselves out in a minute or two so waiting a bit and reloading the page should work.
