Erotica questions

ABSTRUSE said:
I was strolling through the battleground threads and came across this quote by Shereads:

"Meanwhile, there are people here in the AH who enjoy discussing erotica stories and also share an interest in politics. You don't have to read us. In all the discussions recently of what does and does not belong in the AH, I've never seen anyone explain why they feel compelled to read what offends or bores them."

So why don't we address this topic........

Why do we feel compelled to read Erotica?

What do you find offensive, boring or exciting?

Why?

Anyone care to start the ball rolling??

LOL this is like asking why does an idiot put a hot cup of coffee between her legs while driving, gets third degree burns and yet still wins a multi million dollar lawsuit??????

I am not offended by much, but then do I read a lot of erotica? I just write it. I rely on others to tell me whether my writing turns them on because I am WAY to concentrating on details when I write. Why? Thats just how I write.

I have tried to read some top stories, but mainly find the best stories are not at the very top, and so, a sifting process. I only read people I am familiar with now, and even then - I am so occupied writing . . . I wish I could get to more :)

It's amazing the amount of women who I know are more open about sex and erotica.

I agree with you on the incest and non'consent, but I have read a few, and they are pretty good if you separate yourself from the subject.

The whole golden showers and scat thing is very disturbing to me, but what ever floats your boat.

I notice a big smoking fetish, two of my stories involve smoking and I recieved some very nice feedback on them. There is something sensual about watching some people smoke.

thank you to all who replied and shared.

Umm... I smoke... once almost burst into flames:devil:

Must agree about scat and piss drinking, not my cup of tea (pun intended).

I don't read much erotica to be honest with you all, most of the stuff about bores the shite out of me... including some of my own. I'm with Mab's on this one, I'd rather swap dirty emails with someone... especially true confessions... and admissions of wild fantasies. That's boner material for me, so is some rampant 20 yr old female dropping her knickers in front of me... but I'm more likely to get the emails than that scenario.

Incest and non-consent, hell why not role your own, as they say round these parts, 'Incest a game every bored family should play'.
If she objects, well nothing wrong with a bit of shall we say persuasion... failing that several pints of old Hooky usually does the trick.

I want in on that, Pop! You can send me dirty emails anytime!

I read it to get ideas and inspired for my own writing. I see what other people do and figure out a different way to put it into my own work and get better with my own writing.

===========================

I read it as an offshoot of being human. No, not being smart, but sex it how we got here, and it's, uh, kind of complelling. Just can't get away from it.

Very seriously, it is compelling, and after thousands of years, we know so little about it, other than that we're here. It's as mysterious, and as vague as trying to find the materiality of consciousness.

The sex act itself, however you like it, is also relatively unknown, other than we like it, and we seem to be made to do so. Ugh! Doesn't sound too good.

Why do some like it one way, and another the other? What is/are the specific(s) of logic for our choices? What is the cumpulsion to love to be at the lips that have just given someone else so much pleasure (you gave it), but be thrilled by it, the feeling of it, the knowledge that those lips want more?

Many of us have these feelings about specific things like that, but we don't know why. We just seem to like it.

Maybe that's the answer: whatever it is, we just like it.

I've morphed into liking to write about it too. Doesn't everyone agree that sex begins in the mind? Isn't that where it is first thrilling?

I like to explore how it is that we're so unique, so given to make so much of it as we are on this thread. All of this, this trhread, being human, making so much of sex, that is erotica (if you use the feather, and not the chicken lips that Des is choking
:( )

(edited to add:) Oh, and what is this nebulous thing we call love that has a way of somehow mixing in with sex, and making us feel the erotic? So, if it's all so good, and so mysterious, why not love it, to read it, or to also write it?

I'll have to see if I can find a picture of me and my pipes to send you, Abs.

I love pipes, what kind of tobacco do you use? No offense here, my grandfather used to smoke a pipe and he smoked black cherry tobacco, when he would leave I would sit and inhale the ashtray.
Pipe smoking is a dying art form.:(

I remember when pipe smoking was a sign of manhood. First thing a boy did when he got to college was learn to smoke a pipe. They'd give it up soon not realizing it was more than a symbol. A man who really knew his tobacco and how to enjoy it was "a man".

I smoke Captain Black in the white package. It's nice and subtle, for pipe tobacco.

I used to go to a tobacconist for one of their special blends, 221B. (Anyone recognize the reference?) But I became poor and then they went out of business. Sigh.

I, as I usually do, started smoking a pipe just to be different. Doing things just to be different is a weakness of mine.

If pipes became common, I would probably stop. Sometimes, it's such a pain to be a slave to your idiosyncracies.

My ex had a framed vintage Lucky Strikes cigarette ad: "Doctors say smoking 'clears your t-zone." Yes, Lucky Strikes were recommended by *physicians* because they kept the sinuses and throat "clear," whatever that meant.

In WWII, Lucky Strike donated a cigarettes to every new serviceman. Brilliant marketing. Give millions of boys, away from home and scared to death, some free smokes to try when they need to feel grown-up. They came home hooked. Pipes became a quaint pre-war relic.

Did it contain 'certain substances' found on mantlepieces?

My dad started smoking in the service because you could get all the cigarettes you wanted. Luck strikes was his brand for years, no filters for him, he would rip them off.
Now he suffers from emphysema and COPD. Wonder if we got a good lawyer we could sue the military as well as the tobacco company?
Wait! I smoke too. Could this also fit in somehow?

~A~hijacking my own thread and loving it..lol

Nah. I didn't want to be the world's first consulting detective that badly.
