Erotica or not?

I have a question regarding a story that I'm writing. When does an erotic story stop being an erotic story? There's still sex involved but more and more the story is starting to fall away from the sexual aspects. The story (or stories) in question are the Angela series. I'm nearly done with part three of it and I am happy with the results but I'm wondering if I should post it in non erotic or if it still constitutes as an erotic story. I don't know how many people here have read the story but you don't necessairly have to have read it to answer.

As long as sex is implied it's still considered erotic. It doesn't necessarily have to be played out.

Also, to swap over to another category is to lose a lot of the audience. Kiss of death. I'm not talking votes or scores, but readers, just raw readership. The site will often pick the category for you, but stay in one cat the whole story if you possibly can.

What's your concern, Des? That readers expecting lots of sex will be disappointed? Or are you hoping to attract readers who don't normally read erotica? (Are there many of those in Lit?) Personally, I read a lot of novels that I think of as erotic because of sustained sexual tension and a single, satisfying conclusion. It doesn't have to be wall-to-wall with sex to be erotic.

(Of course, you can't leave out the lab coats and weight-lifting gloves. But you knew that.)

I think that they still belong in erotic. Especially as they are part of a longer piece that is erotic. I made the mistake of posting part of a story in non-erotic. I kind of feel that if I read a non-erotic story then I don't want to find out that later or either parts are erotic while an erotic story with non erotic sections is fine. If that makes sence.
