Erotica Blog Disclaimer

I want to publish my erotica on my Wordpress blog, but I want to make sure things are legally and ethically kosher. Per WP guidelines, one ought to report a blog as mature if it contains explicit content; that seems to be WP's only requirement. Check, done. In addition, I've added an explicit content disclaimer in the tagline area of the blog, as well as on the top of my first and thus far only blog post.

Am I all set? (All set to annoy readers with excessive disclaimers?) Also: I've searched far and wide for a decent plug-in to create a pop-up disclaimer, but I'm a bit coding-inept. Any help would be much appreciated.

Any helpful tips, websites for advice, or persona tales to tell?

Do tell.

Talk to Naoko Smith; she has one.

I"m pretty sure you'll be fine on wordpress, but if you're that concerned set up a blog on Tumblr, there's countless hardcore porn blogs there, you'll have no worries.

In the past, I read NaokoSmith's blog off and on, as well as MatthewVett's, a former poster here - both have Wordpress blogs as I recall, and both have only an entry disclaimer, which is fine. I think more are unnecessary, but two not much more than one. One on every page, that would be annoying. To me, that is.

Good luck with it.

I post all my erotica on my blog, along with a boatload of porn, and I've never had issues.

Former? :'(

Hadn't see you in a while on the AH, so yes, former... now current. Hiya! Hope life's been swell.

Yeah, things have been going really well. Very lately I've mostly been playing new games instead of writing, though. XCOM 2 is addictive, what can I say? Think I'm about to start a new short story today, though. I'm really happy because I shared one of my stories with a real life friend, which always worries me, and she really loves it. :) So that made my week.

You need to keep a backup anyway, but if you're (1) using someone else's platform and (2) posting materials that may violate their TOS (present or future) or trigger some audience member, a backup of your site is essential.

Guidelines change and malicious reporting happens and if your host decides you violate their TOS, or if they change their TOS, your site could be nuked without notice. Download a backup in format that could be hosted elsewhere, or at least keep copies of everything.

...or if they just fuck up and lose your data. Yeah, backups are your friend.

Hullo!

My (review) blog is on blogger (see link below). As you have done, I tick the 'mature content' box and a warning pops up whenever anyone (including me) accesses the site.

I am pretty sure that most of my posts are textual accounts, there aren't any explicit images (or only very famous art-y ones like The Fisherman's Wife). I have never had any trouble with the site. There was a brief period when they said they might do away with mature content sites but they rapidly changed their mind when reasonable arguments were put to them about this.

Feel free to ask any further more detailed questions.

About blogging erotica, I mean. For questions about my love life, how my research project on different kinds of chocolate with seasalt is going and what I am doing on Friday night, you are better off going to my news and views thread.

:)
