So I went to my first local munch meeting just last night (not my first ever munch, it was actually my third munch but whatever, not important). The people were really cool and there was an outreach for ideas for new activites and lecturers. i love my very vanilla book club that I've gotten involved with and I've thought - what could be more fun then an erotica book club? Especially one with a BDSM twist.

So I thought I would suggest it - and perhaps, to get more interest or just see if there would be adequate interest, I would suggest that the first reading be online instead of something everyone would have to buy. that way it would be accessible to all as all the munch participates have access to the web. That way, the first meeting could be spent discussing a short story and the possibilities for a book for the second meeting (if the interest is there). I have already found and bookmarked for myself- old book list thread here at Lit but I was wondering if anyone knows of a specific story or series of poems here at Lit that would be suitable for discussion (deep discussion as well as the more fun pornographic delightfulness of erotica). It might be helpful if you could also explain why you think the story or poems you mention would be worthy of being highlighted an erotic bookclub meeting.

I'm asking for help because I know the more information I present in my suggestion to the local munch - the more eager the reception will be.

Time is not my friend right now, but my suggestion would be if using anythig from Lit, to contact the writer frst as a matter of courtesy. It is not that it is a necessity as much as a nicety in that though they are published for public reading, some people are touchy about their work being discussed and critiqued in such a way and one never knows with these anonymous formats who might accidentally discover they are or have been discussed....some others might like to get the feedback and appreciate being given the opportunity to have their work highlighted and read. Maybe checking the Shameless Plug thread would give you a place to start as there are many recommedations of people by those who have read their work.....or even regular posters here who have no problem with it. Good luck with the idea as it sounds good.

Definitely good advice. I will be sure to gain permission from an author before preceeding.
