Hi,

I have been toying with this idea for a while, and finaly got the motivation to get myself moving and make the first moves.

I am planning to set up an internet radio station broadcasting erotica. Erotic fiction readings. Planning on using shoutcast to broadcast. I have a lot of experience with shoutcast and run a net radio station for music with it already.

The primary problem is content.

I've written the occasional bit of fiction, but I don't write the best stuff by far, and I don't have an 'erotic' voice.

What I am looking for is authors who would be willing to grant permission for their stories to be recorded and broadcast, and people who are willing to record the stories I get permission to use.

The station would be completely 'free to air' I'm not looking for free content for a pay site. The term 'labour of love' springs to mind.

I'd be looking for all types of content, and recordings by men and women readers. Then when I hit a critical mass of content, that would allow me to plan a 'schedule' so at certain times a particular type of audio is broadcast and people know when they tune in what kind of thing would be playing.

Acompanying the station, a web site with schedule information, and details on the 'now playing' track. i.e. who wrote it, who recorded it and links to relevant pages (Literotica profile, url with the text version etc).

Feel free to PM me, post in reply, or drop me an email: radio@fuckingbrit.com for further details, or to point out obvious flaws in my plan, or tell me to get lost or...

I think this is a wonderful idea.

A few questions though:

1) What kind of safeguards will you have built-in to try to keep the underage from playing this loud enough for parents to try to take action against you? (There is audio content on this site, so you should be able to get info on how to do whatever Lit is doing)

2) Can you provide info on the best way/equipment/place to perform the recording?

3) Any 'picks' you've read that you would like to hear?

4) Any areas that are off limit?

-FF
ps. I would love to do the same with horror stories read on-line so I will be watching/listening with interest.
pps. BTW - Welcome to the Hangout.

As described, this project would have to be done in cooperation with Laurel and Manu. Have they been contacted?

What was their comment about this project? Why have we seen nothing about this project announced by the owners of Literotica?

At least, can you point us to a STICKY, somewhere?

You state your plan to use SHOUTCAST to transmit. What program recording formats will be acceptable?

Once recorded, who will own the copyright?

Not listing on the SHOUTcast YP will avoid casual tune ins from minors, only providing the tune in url on the web site with standard over-18's only messages and warnings of adult content etc. Seems to work for literotica.com. I have to check into legal requirments etc still.

Yes and no. ;)

Yes I can provide the info (once I've got a good free solution documented, and the project is looking feasible I'll post information)

No Idon't have any picks yet. So much here I can't read it all :D

4) Any areas that are off limit?

Yes of course. Obvious things like beastiality and paedophillia. But otherwise I guess a good rule of thumb would be if literotica allow it why shouldn't I?

pps. BTW - Welcome to the Hangout.

Thanks!

No they haven't. Why would it need to be done in co-operation with them? As I understand it, if an author submits their article to literotica.com they still own the copyright. I've posted here as this appears to be a well-spring of talented amature author's who might be interested in the project. Of course, linking to the text version on literotica.com may need the consent of the people who run the site, and thus I will contact them if things move towards 'go'.

However, I am asking for author's who own the copyright to their articles to submit it to my (independant of literotica) radio station embryo with permission to broadcast it. I'm not competing with literotica.com (I don't think) they offer on demand streaming in real format of some articles. I'm offering a radio station that is not on demand with random content (within the scheduled format, i.e. monday morning masturbation or whatever ;-))

The linking was:

who recorded it and links to relevant pages (Literotica profile, url with the text version etc).

and purely intended as an example. The url with the text version may not be here, it could be the author's personal site. The lit profile may not be linked if LE.com object. But then it's free promotion to their site from mine with me asking nothing in return...

You state your plan to use SHOUTCAST to transmit. What program recording formats will be acceptable?

SHOUTcast is the streaming server, the signal is sent via Winamp. Winamp can stream from most formats it can play. With some exceptions (secure formats deny streaming for copyright violations) so WMA is no use, but OGG, MP3 or anyother compressed non-DRM format is fine.

Once recorded, who will own the copyright?

The copyright of the story will remain owned by the story author. The copyright of the recording will remain owned by the recorder. However, the owner of the story has the most control. If they remove my permission to use it, then the recording would be taken down. Even if the recorder still grants use of their voice. If the person who recorded it removes my permissions to broadcast their voice, then the recording would be removed but may be re-recorded by another voice talent as I would still have the story permissions. (assuming the author wasn't the recorder)

Best case is that the recorder and author are one in the same to keep things simple.

I would only have permission to broadcast these on SHOUTcast based radio. I would own all copyrights and IPR to the website I create and the code that runs the station. But no content will I own. I will have simple licensing. You grant me permission to broadcast on shoutcast until such time as you revoke that permission.
