The age old chestnut asks where is the fine line drawn between what is considered to be "erotic" and what is regarded as "pornographic"?

I have posted images which I believe can be catagorised by both definitions and possibly images that fall into both camps simultaneously.

Both by definition are sexually explicit but can anybody simply define the difference?

Have the borders between the two become so hazy that we are not sure sometimes which genre we are exhibiting?

Please let me know where you would file the two following images.

This is only my opinion, but, the difference between erotic and pornographic is the intention. Pornographic images are meant to cause a stir in your shorts. While erotic pictures occationally have the same effect, the image is focused on artistic expression using a sexual theme.

I honestly prefer erotic art over pornographic pictures... If I want pornography - I'll rent a video cassette or DL a Mpeg. (Got any for trade? ;) )

The picture that you posted - I would concider erotica... Again - this is all the opinion of a loud mouthed young man, so take it as you will.

Black -bird

Is it always easy to distinguish?
My examples are not extremme but I sure that some will pigeon hole the images one way or another; others will have mixed feelings depending on gender, orientation and of course, at the end of the day, personal choice!

P.S. do have some mpegs to trade

I find it easy to distinguish... but then again, maybe I'm just asserting my opinion as 'right'. There are people out there that believes everything with even the merest suggestion of nudity is pornography.

Maybe you're right... but I still like my "Intention" hypothosis. ;)

I believe the greek derivatives of both words give us a clue: eros is love, and porne has connotations of prostitution.

I wish that I could remember which Supreme Court Justice said this during a pornography case, but it went something like, I don't know how to define pornography, but I know it when I see it!

Erotic or pornographic?

It depends on who your lawyer is that is arguing the case!!

It's a very fine line, if you take a porn pic and make it B & W it looks more like art. Who can say, everyone is different.

Cotedebeaune - Erotic or pornographic?

As I have said in the past ................. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.........................Just be happy you can post either and not get stoned to dead or tossed into jail...........not so long ago that would be the end to your actions........Thanks again for helping with the rights of the 1st Amendment.

The Tunamaster;)

Pic one can be seen as erotic, but pic two is definetly pornographic.

Erotic Vs. Pornographic

In the end, it's all in the eyes of the beholder. My mother found a picture I had once, of a woman lifting her skirt to expose her vulva, and she was very offended. I on the other hand, thought it was neither pornographic nor very erotic.

As for turning porn into art, I have dome some really amazing things along those lines. I will have to find some of them and post them here. :)

For me...

The difference is in how it makes me feel...
With something erotic, it is an instant trigger for me...pupils dilate, breathing quickens a bit, instant wetness...that ache in my womb...mind drops immediately into the story, or the picture, weaving fantasy within it...

With pornographic things, it can sometimes be a similar response if I am in a randy mood ;) However that just entails one of those "fuck me silly" feeling versus the total body/mind/spirit awakening I get from seeing something that's erotic to me.

It's strange, colouring and style of photo matters in part; for instance, B&W will always seem more erotic to me, even if it's some close-up penetration shot. Same goes for those "soft edge" photos...*shrug* Not sure on that one :)

Pornographic Art

As is mentioned in my previous post, I have done some things with pictures most would consider pornographic and made them very aesthetically appealing. Unfortunately, I cannot find most of them, but here is an example of the process I was talking about.

This picture happens to be erotic instead of pornographic to begin with, and done in good taste - in my opinion - to begin with.

The original is below.

Pornographic P(A)rt 2

A simple run over with an "Oilify" tool to make it look like an oil painting produces this beautiful result:

Pornographic P(A)rt 3

And, in a few more steps, you can do something like this. I like this effect because it looks like a hand-cast paper mold effect.

Pornographic P(A)rt 4

Here's one that most people would think did not start out purely erotic. It may not be the best example of my point, but it's a pretty good one, I think.

Well .... I am not opposed to pornography and anyway I think the line has not been crossed in this instance. Are all full frontal female genitalia shots porn? I don't think so with any stretch of the imagination ... or labia come to that!

Pornographic?

I don't think full frontal shots of women's vulvas or labia are pronographic, but you have to also take into account that this process I used to get these results doesn't work on just any picture; and, I don't exactly have lots of what most people would call "pornography". I have in my collection what I enjoy looking at, which is beautiful women nude.

As for the original, it is (reduced to size so I can post it) below.

Ardent pussy lover

I think your examples are purrfect.
Here is a manipulation of the prettiest pussy, bar two (your girl's and mine), that has appeared on this bulletin board. It goes to emphasise what you have so expertly demonstrated.
I would not mind manipulating these beautiful cunts in the flesh but then that is the object of eroticism, isn't it?

Interesting effect.

It looks familiar, but I have not seen it in quite some time. :) What are you using to do it?
