AS one who has messed with it briefly I would recommend, if you are interested, not so much asphyxiation as , breathing restriction. As Jeeper said you would have to have a trustworthy, and hopefully intelligent, partner.
The entire lure of it is that, as your air is cut off other muscles go into overdrive because of the automatic adrenaline rush, and yes you will have a very intense orgasm. But you don't need to get to the point of losing consciousness or even seeing spots to reach that climax.

Have heard of it...
