Erm, Colly...

Completly unrelated to the actual thread, I have often wondered why it is "Erm" rather than "Er" which is the actual sound of hesitation, and which is the way it has been written before. Personally, I believe it is because the sound is always followed by a comma and frequently a typo will result in the comma being preceded by the "m" because that is the adjacent key on a keyboard. In other words, it is a typographical error that has become correct.

*snickers at Aurora* :D

I, too, have sparingly used "er" or even "um" or "uh" (though it's really hard to use "uh" anymore since the amusing defilement ala Beevus and Butthead), but I have yet to hear anyone use "erm" in the real world...this is, vocally. Is it a region thing? Inquiring minds want to know.

I use "Er" in dialogue, denoting hesitant or stuttering speech. I use "Uh" as a sound effect as in: "Uh! Uh! Uh!" she whimpered, bouncing up and down on top of me as I thrust my cock in and out of her pussy.

Tea spew! :D

I only use "Erm" in writing. Verbally, I try to use "er" and "um" as little as possible since I was taught from an early age that they're essentially brain farts. :p

Professional Thread Killer Strikes Again!

Oh, boy. That sounded snotty, didn't it? Sorry if some of you use a lot of ums and got offended. :(
