Australian Open. The winner of the singles tournaments wins $2,875,000 and the runner-up claims $1,575,000. Australian dollars. Which (according to kbate) is somewhere around $44 US.
Some people are saying the women should play 5 sets like the men because the prize money is the same.
Personally, I think we should give finalists the chance to “come back”. Just Look at the epic battle between Rafa and Medvedev. It was a 5-hour match. Rafa was 2 sets down and came back to win the AO and the top prize.
Barty won the final against Collins 6-3 7-6. Boooring.
Nadal won 2-6 6-7 6-4 6-4 7-5. Had it been 3 sets like the women, Nadal would have lost the match.
