I know there are some folks on here who epilate or wax, and others who prefer their pyl's silky smooth, so I thought I'd share some feedback on the new epilator I bought...because it is AWESOME!

It's a Panasonic ES-WD51

You can read the specs in the link, I just want to offer my glowing report.

I have used a lot of different epilators. I used to wax but it's expensive and doesn't always fit with my schedule. So DIY with an epilator was the next best thing. And even though I have a very high pain tolerance for hair removal, this method always required a lot of teeth gritting when it came to sensitive bits, (see also: genital area).

This new Panasonic is virtually painless. I was blown away. Seriously. And because it has two pivoting heads, you get done in at least a quarter of the time it would normally take.

I haven't used it with soap yet but you can, and apparently that works even better. Anyway, this isn't an advertisement. But when a product impresses me this much, I figure other people might want to know.

BTW, it cost me about $100 CDN, which is a bit steep but well worth it IMO.

Interesting, I've never tried one of those tweezer epilators.

My next big purchase is hopefully going to be the Tria laser home kit. I've been getting some laser done professionally (got a Groupon for it) and it turns out it's not that painful or hard to do. So I'll save some money by doing the easy areas (legs especially) myself. My wife and I are going to split it and we'll do each other.

*sigh* I wish I had any sort of money to spend on quality hair removal. I've almost managed to convince myself I will find a genie that will grant me the wish of permanent hair removal :p Still, if for some reason 100 bucks falls in my lap that I don't have anything better to do with, it's good to see a positive review about something!

I would love to do laser but with fine, fair hair and fair skin, it's not the best option. Let us know how it goes though!

I will keep my fingers crossed for money falling into your lap. ;)

Thanks Keroin! :D

No worries! Happy to share.

I have a Panasonic razor. Decent for an electric, though sometimes with frequent use burns me. Also not the easiest to clean, but that is offset by the docking bay which rinses it every time you use it.

Sometimes I wish I was a man and only was expected to shave my face.

I use this one by Braun. It's been really, really good, much better at plucking even those short ones than the ones I've used before. Nevertheless, if I want my legs completely smooth, I need to shave them afterwards. It lasts a long time once I've epilated and shaved my legs, but still, the epilator alone doesn't quite cut it for me. Some of the short and fine hair manage to fly under the radar until I shave them. And it doesn't seem to make any difference, how much time I use epilating. Braun has even an epilator with a razor attached to it, so I guess I'm not all that unique with this problem.

Do you still have to shave, or do you really manage to get completely smooth legs just with the epilator, Keroin?

And all you epilating people, do you use it on the lips as well? I'm totally sure something would get stuck somewhere and the result would be a bloodbath, so I haven't even tried. But if you lot have tried and survived, then maybe...

I get completely smooth with just the epilator but then I have fine hair to begin with. And I'm not going to sweat the few that escape my clutches.

And I have used the epilator on lips...VERY, VERY carefully. With my free hand holding the delicate bits to prevent "chewing". Still, I have gotten bitten a couple of times. This is the part that usually takes me the longest. But that's what amazed me about this new machine, it was quick and almost painless. Zip, zip done.

But if you're going to do lips. Start slow, be very patient and careful. I find a light dusting of baby powder helps quite a bit.
