Can you name one Bush family member who received money from Enron for professional services – as an attorney, for instance?

Can you show any loans to George W. Bush or any of his family members from Enron or from any of Enron’s principals?

Can you show that George W. Bush invested in Enron and that that investment was subsequently protected by Enron officials when the financial picture started to fall apart.
Can you provide me with any evidence that any administration official, from Bush’s years as Governor of Texas or since he became president, has taken any action whatsoever to prevent, stall or impede an investigation by any government regulatory agency, either state or federal, into the financial affairs of Enron?

Can you provide any evidence, anecdotal or otherwise, of any sexual relations between George W. Bush and any officer or the wife of any officer of Enron?

Can you produce evidence that either Enron or any Enron official ever made payments on any promissory obligation of George W. Bush or any member of his family?

Can you introduce any evidence that George W. Bush, or any member of his immediate family, ever participated in the preparation of any legal documents drawn for the sole purpose of defrauding the federal government?

Can you show that either George W. Bush or any member of his administration or his immediate family has lied, whether under oath or not, about any aspect of his relationship with Enron or any Enron officials?

Can you provide me the name of any Enron official who is presently serving time in jail for contempt of court for his or her refusal to answer questions under oath about the role of George W. Bush or any member of his family or administration in dealings with Enron?

Can you show me that any pertinent documents relating to Enron, which documents were once in the possession of George W. Bush, any member of his immediately family or any administration official has been destroyed, lost, shredded or otherwise disposed of?

Explain just why there is so much criticism of George W. Bush over the Enron debacle while Enron is being represented in Washington by Bill Clinton’s former attorney.

sorry dude.

i haven't even heard one person yet call this a political scandal. clearly many politions were in bed with enron. there's nothing even remotely illegal about it. the problem is what happens now. no one in washington wants to touch the case.

Here's the Clinton scandal scorecard after just twelve months in office:

April 1993: Waco - The worst law enforcement debacle in U.S. history, resulting in 80 Branch Davidians dead, including more children than died in the Oklahoma City bombing.

May 1993: Travelgate - Travel Office chief Billy Dale and his six underlings were summarily fired because, in the words of Hillary Clinton, "We need those slots for our people." Dale was prosecuted to justify the move but a jury found him innocent after deliberating just 90 minutes.

June 1993: Filegate - In their rush to implicate Dale in criminal wrongdoing, Clinton aides illegally obtain his confidential FBI file. In the coming months 1100 more FBI files would follow. The scandal wasn't uncovered till 1996.

July 1993: Fostergate - White House deputy counsel Vince Foster is found shot to death in a Virginia Park as senior Clinton aides scramble to remove documents from his office. Police call it a suicide but little blood and no bullet are found at the death scene. The man who discovered his body said he saw no gun.

November 1993: Sexgate - White House volunteer Kathleen Willey has a private meeting with President Clinton in the Oval Office ante room to beg for a paying job. He sexually attacks her, stopping only when a visitor enters the Oval Office. Willey's husband Ed is found shot to death the next day.

December 1993: Troopergate - Four Arkansas state troopers come forward claiming President Clinton had them procure hundreds of women for sexual liaisons. In an American Spectator article breaking the story, reporter David Brock cites a woman named "Paula." Six months later Paula Corbin Jones files suit against Clinton, setting the stage for his impeachment in 1998.

December 1993: The White House admits that Whitewater documents were removed from Vince Foster's office and hidden in Mrs. Clinton's bedrooom closet.

After Clinton's 1993 record, with enough sex, death and assorted other shenanigans to keep any ten tabloids in business, Democrats hyping Enron are going to have to hand out industrial strength No-Doz just to keep Americans awake.

i hate liars

B]worst in us history? hardly. in fact many think the raid was justified. if anything it should have happened sooner. how many more months did you expect the atf to sit outside asking nicely?[/B]

[the powers of the executive do not demand a reason for termination. you will no doubt recall linda tripp being fired after refusing to resign to thre incomming bush administration.

.[/B] please. are you for real? the only illegality was from a technical standpoint. the president is the head law enforcement officer. the greater problem was in failing to force his staff through the right channels. a republican president would simply have been touted as taking a "no nonsensre approach." i'd be inclined to agree.

even according to her that's not what happened.

Enron makes whitewater look like a kindergarten crayon swindle. Mebbe Bush did something wrong mebbe he didn't. It is true that Enron owned utilities enjoyed favorable treatment under Bush's tenure as governor of Texas, but whether it is inappropriate or not remains to be seen. Enron's execs did funnel millions into the republican party anda little into the democratic party bt the ratio is something like 90/10.

You don't hear the dems screaming for prosecution and a special investigation do ya? Just maybe they saw how stupid the Starr commission ended up being.

$40,000,000 for a semen stain? More of that much touted Republican fiscal responsibility.:D

well said thumper

and let's not forget. this is abusiness scandal, NOT a political one. if bush was helping enron he didn't do a very good job of it. besides..under alll administrations larger corporations tnd to get help. it's part of balancing economics.

Well, the ratio is less than 4-1.

There's a lot of disturbing things about Enron and the Anderson auditors. But they have a way to go before they can pin it on Bush. The dems (liberal press) are screaming about it. Do a news search on Enron and see.

Of course he helped out Enron... the stock soared because of the deregulation. And then the CEOs dumped their stocks before the truth of how poorly mismanaged the corp. was. Scandal or no scandal, deregulation of industry is never done in the public's best interest. We'll have to wait and see what comes out of this. Certainly it's bigger than a blowjob in the Oval Office whether it was legal or not. A lot of people's lives have been affected.

I read that the ratio was 73% to the Republicans over the last ten years.

dubya will never be as stupid as bubba was to dip his cigar...so i doubt enron will be anything tied to dubya.

I bet Enron at the moment will be the biggest scandal
for Dubya.....ya know those Republicans.....money money
and money!

It wasn't only mismanagement, there was some interesting accounting chicanery as well in the Arthur Anderson accounting firm. That outfit may have destroyed themselves as a business. If not, they have a hard row to hoe on the road to restoration of their reputation.

And that ratio (~3:1) sounds like what I've hearing the news also. And note that Joey Boy Liebermann isn't recusing himself from the Congressional "investigation" even though he received over $250,000 in campaign contributions from Enron and their affiliates. Certainly no appearance of impropriety there, huh?

And did you notice that the only Enron phone call to anybody that did result in an attempt to aid was the one to Robert Ruben?

And, Todd, never forget the Democrats' motto, "We don't need no steenking evidence!"
