To all the Brits out there-- when does the damn game start? I toyed with the idea of getting it on pay-per-view, but my soccer buddy is out of town and I didn't want to drop $20 on my own. I'm going to follow it on Soccernet.com, like I did for the Germany destruction. Good karma.

No Owen, but I think Fowler will come thru today, just have a feeling. Gotta love a sport where all the top players are out getting plastered in the run-up to the biggest game of their lives. Lampard, Gerrard, Fowler, McManaman...that's the kind of training I could get into!

Oh, a question. What exactly is the geneology of the word "Scouser"? I'm a Liverpool fan (from watching the Keegan and Heighway teams on PBS when I was little) and I don't know exactly what that means. Any Liverpudlians out there?

Soccernet's commentary thing isn't working, I haven't gotten the running info on the game. I'm blind.

Germany is dominating Finland, but Bierhoff just missed two bunnies in a row, one off the crossbar.

Did Sheringham go in for Fowler? What little info I got it seemed like he was stinking out the joint.

HOLY COW! Germnay with a great shot, the keeper just got a touch, off the left post and back across the goal mouth, Neuville with a sharp-angle shot, and the keeper made another unreal save.

Germany draws 0-0 with Finland. The Finn goalie made yet another great save in stoppage time. Could (should) have been 3 or 4 behind him. If England draws too, who gets the automatic bid?

England win the group ahead of Germany on goal difference. We automatically go through to the World Cup Finals in Korea/Japan next year.

Just a few short months ago England were written off as no-hopers but the 5-1 win over Germany gave us the goals we needed.

I definitely DON'T want to see England play like that again!

I nearly had three heart attacks during the match...

The Spice Boy comes thru again. I'll bet Old Trafford went nuts. Did you guys know that Germany drew? Every English supporter should send a thank-you card to the Finnish keeper. He made three, maybe four UNREAL saves. Bierhoff had three great chances, two of them all alone with the goalie, and got stuffed. His chip was definitely going in, but the keeper just got his fingertips on it and that was enough to set it clanging off the post.

The Germans got booed off the field, which wasn't quite fair since they dominated and played well. But you gotta put the biscuit in the basket, as we say on this side of the pond.
