Somehow during this hectic week I've managed to mislay every single one of my hair scrunchies.

I mowed the back field today in knee high rubber work boots.

I also took a shower immediately after the mow and scrubbed all possible target sites. Vigorously.

So far, chigger free.


As an aside, why are rubber boots so wide? Admittedly my feet are narrow, but I can sit on a fence and swing my legs and these will fall off. They are impossible to walk in.

But for sitting on a Zero mower and acting as a barrier to this freaking bumper crop of chiggers? Perfect.

They are impossible to walk in, but also a necessity. In NY, we have a (fairly recent) tick problem. These boots are essential for that first mow of the year. I have a push mower and my feet are killing me when I where these bad boys, but no ticks, so . . .

I wear three pair of socks. The extra friction allows me to keep them on for a minimal distance.

Somewhere, somehow, someone makes these boots in a narrow, but I suspect I would be unwilling to pay the price.
