I also - for the first time ever - got stung by a scorpion.

There was much cussing. Bad words I did not even know I knew. Those stings hurt!!! So now I sit, foot elevated, propped on an ice pack, waiting to use a corticosteroid.

Oh, yeah. And to see if I have an allergic reaction.

*sigh*


So, bad tv while I wait. The Naked Witch (1961). It's billed as -

"A student researching the German settlements of Central Texas unearths the grave of a reputed witch."

All I can say is the movie makers had not spent much time in Central Texas!

Heavy German settlements, yes. Rampant witches, not so much. Certainly not witches like those portrayed during England's witch burnings!

And, it's mostly voice over. . . .


Nope! Twenty minutes in and I can't take anymore.

The plot? Think King Kong.

An unsung classic this movie is not!

But - couple of points.

-Typical woman in trouble situation, but!
-Native woman, rather than white woman.
-Yeti costume appeared to be dark grey mummy wrappings.
-With pull-on fur paws.

Notes:
1) White men had to be coerced to try and rescue native woman. When creature was caught (and they wrested back control) they promptly abandoned the search.
2) Dark grey mummy wrappings? C'mon! At least make them white. Like, he's so apex predator he doesn't need to camouflage in the snow?

Enny, I know your pain . . . from my days in Texas, I have in my office a "scorpion encased in glass" (a going away remembrance gift). . . from head to tail end it's about 3". Something like this . . .

Thank goodness the scorpions up here in GA are only about 1" long,
but I have been stung a couple times cleaning away brush (gloves only now!)
And, as small as they are, they do find a way into the house on occassion.

Heart issues in the family. Three siblings and two have already passed through massive coronaries. The first one went at forty, which The Bestie is past.

So. Apparently it's not uncommon after a heart attack, even a minor one, for the attackee to be extra irritable and cranky for a bit. This added greatly to today's driving experience.

I don't necessarily mean greatly in a good way.
