Endless Ends

Also, note to self:

*The zero is not a four wheeler*
*The zero is not a four wheeler*
*The zero is not a four wheeler*

This is my mantra. Repeated three times before bed in the hopes I don't get that thing stuck again tomorrow. :p

I was supposed to go out tonight, buuuuuuuut.

So, there's this field that I don't mow. At least, not fully. I do circles in it and blaze a trail along the fence line. It's a place for milkweed to grow for Monarchs and where the deer can nestle in the long grass to sleep at night and be close to the water.

Yesterday I mowed my little route. It had been a while. This morning, I woke, and I, who never get chiggered -

GOT CHIGGERED

I itch.

A lot.

I'm embarrassed to say all the places that is so. 😳

So. I'm staying in tonight so I cans scratch in peace.

Omg. Someone come scratch me. 🤣

Today, I wrestled for hours with oleanders killed by the freeze.

I came in, shucked my perfectly disgusting clothes, and transferred the contents of the washer to the dryer, planning to wash said disgusting clothes.

I pulled out the last item from the washer, and there, in the tub, was a scorpion. 😳

A big one. 😳

The biggest one I've ever seen out here.

He, poor thing, had been through the wash. Don't ask me how I know it is a he, I just do. 🤷🏼‍♀️

-He looked at me.

-I looked at him

-I willed him to disappear.

-He did not oblige.

-I closed the lid.

And now I'm posting on Lit to give myself a minute to figure out how to remove him from the washer. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Take a plastic cup and with a piece of firm paper or cardboard, scrap him into the cup, cover the top with the paper, and dump him into the commode or outside.

Okay. Tweezers and an empty gelato pint worked. Scorpion and Endless are both greatly relieved. 😬

*faints*

That would have been my first choice. Unfortunately, it's an older washer with an agitator and a curved bottom.

He did leave the house. Quite promptly. :p

I now settle in to watch Double Indemnity (1944).

Such a good book! McCain writes in such a spare style. I usually prefer wordier tombs, but he gets the job done with the minimum word count.

The movie end is so much more tame than the novel. 😳

My favorite of all Noir movies.

“Maybe you ought’na done that.“
”Yeah, maybe I ought’na”

Love it!

I suspect my itching will have declined by the time I procure it, but tea tree is now a priority for my survival kit!

*itches*
*tries not to scratch*

Omg.

This is awful. 🤣
Awwwww poor thing. Seriously, you can get it at pretty much any drug store. Draw up a hot bath, put in a few drops or so and BAM. Feels awesome. Very therapeutic.

I am toast.

Anyone else a P. D. James fan?

British mysteries. Episode, A Certain Justice.

One of her later books, so not a favorite, but still eminently watchable.

(For the readers, her books are lovely and wordy. 😎)

*settles in to watch*

Pursuant to an entirely different conversation, where are we on toe rings?

Tacky and passé?

Crazy sexy?

Asking for a friend. :p

The May full moon - The Flower Moon - May 5th

The full moon will take place on May 5 at 1:34 p.m. ET, rising at 14 degrees Scorpio. The beauty of this lunation is that it doubles a penumbral lunar eclipse . . . "the full moon in Scorpio will oppose the fixed sun in Taurus. The axis of Scorpio and Taurus shares a few common traits, such as determination, desire and security . . . As the sun in Taurus prioritizes your values while the moon in Scorpio purges through emotional release, this may help you determine what is worth the long-term commitment. Since this could be an emotionally complex opposition, don’t be surprised if you shed a few tears to commemorate all you have endured to get to where you want to be."

" May 2023's full moon is in Scorpio and will bring about intense desires to be vulnerable, to connect with others and to shed anything that's not "serving" you in life."

They apparently count as clothing. So I’ll say what I always say about people’s choices - if it makes you feel pretty, fuck everyone else’s opinion.

The May full moon - The Flower Moon - May 5th
I read today that the astrological date for Beltane is midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice, making true Beltance May 5th this year, rather than May 1st.

No idea whether it's true or not, but if so, that would make today the Flower Moon, a lunar eclipse, and astronomical Beltane.

Kinda cool. 😎
