Endless Ends

So. I haven't been around in what seems like forever, but as it is nearly Halloween -

THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR

I thought I'd pop in and do a little thread updating.

Which I will do.

Over the next few days. You know, stretch out the anticipation.

(I warn you now it is not that fascinating. :p)

Where to start, where to start….

Let’s go with Serious Misgivings. Otherwise known as Dead Man Walking.

(Hmmm. Probably should have gone with a more appropriate gender choice. Oops!)

So. My zombie app was for running. Useful. Let me just preface this with saying: I am not a runner. Other forms of exercise: dance, pilates, yoga, weight classes - yes. Running - no.

NOT A RUNNER!!!

I started with training for a 10k.

Now, for all you out there (I can hear you) thinking: 10k? Meh. How wonderfully...underwhelming.

Let me say once again:

NOT A RUNNER!!!

Have I mentioned that I'm not a runner? :p

Anyhoo, managed to make my target race in Cascadia (Long story.). It rains there. A lot. For the first three miles, in fact. Not fun, no. Something of a speed inducer though. Quickest 6.2 miles ever!

How fast? Errr…I will not be divulging that information.

I started running late February. Easing up on my time goal, nice and steady, then…broke a bone.

Okay.

A toe.

Yeah.

Let me just say that a broken toe, of the right kind, can seriously impede one’s ability to run. Between that and another little issue I lost two months, and it’s amazing how quick you lose speed and stamina. The real disappointment is that I’d planned to gift myself fencing lessons if I made my time goal. Ah, well. *sigh*

I still managed top 20% for women, so…meh, not a total disaster.

Funnily enough, I found I like running. Who knew? Something about hitting mile four. Muscles get all loose and all the tight areas in my neck and shoulders just…relax. Good stuff!

Next year? Those fencing lessons?

MINE.

*starts foil shopping*

Running a 10k is about 10 more k's than I could run, so I'm pretty far from underwhelmed. I would say I am downright whelmed. :D

Also, I'm impressed with your ability to remain disciplined, I would have just gone for the fencing anyway. Being able to focus in on your goals is a great strength and not cheating on your rewards shows incredible willpower and determination.

All things I have none of.

Great work!!!

Yay! Welcome back!

Oops! Forgot. 10K running tip:

Wool boy shorts. Excellent at wicking moisture and extremely comfortable against the skin. Don't do it.

THEY RIDE

Eesh. :(

You are such a sweetie! :rose:

And humble. I don't believe that self deprecation for a second! A physique in your level of condition does not maintain itself. I suspect you of discipline, willpower, AND determination, mister!

Yay! Welcome back!

*waves at Tink*

:cattail:

Get it, girl!

Yeeees. *said doubtfully*

It's just...those darn inversions. Tricky. Especially for those of us who lack upper arm strength. Still….

#goals

Alrighty. Feeling lazy, so I'm just going to update the smaller chores on my list.

- Digger: Yeeeeeah. This one isn’t happening until next year. Just no time!

- Suck it Up: In the middle of this one. Hopefully….say…early December? Let me just go on record (once again) that social media is so, so, so not my thing.

- File Clerk: Hmmm. Haven’t started. (Honestly? Had sorta forgotten about! :p) Buuuut, yeah. I see it happening. Maybe…early December? *tosses off a confident nod*

- Anaerobic: Check! Learned to make sauerkraut and kefir. Also tossed in kombucha (not anaerobic, but since I was in the kitchen anyway). Truly surprising how much better they are homemade. Seriously! So, of the three Ks, Kraut and kefir I’ve always liked, but Kombucha? Yuck. *spits*

However. *pauses for dramatic effect*

Double fermented with a little fruit? Comes out carbonated and is FREAKISHLY delicious!

- Ramses: Check! This one is a little too personal to elaborate. Family stuff. :cattail:

The Last Ditch.. Hmmm. This one is pretty darn tame. A pain, but tame. It also feels a little odd, to be sharing life *stuff* on the forum. Too long an absence? Perhaps.

Diet and health. Good! Diet does take a hit occasionally (Dark chocolate and Kir Royals. :p), but mostly I'm a good girl. However, I did get off gluten several years back. Not a verified celiac, but gluten definitely affected my mood, digestion, energy level, and overall sense of just feeling well physically.

Tough. I am - or used to be - a carboholic. Breads! Wonderfully, yeasty, dense, comforting, luscious, soul satisfying. Oh, yeah.

Still, a little adjustment here and there, some changes to cooking. Lots of options now, too, both in stores and restaurants. Good stuff. For a while. The last couple of years, not so optimum. No grain seemed to sit welll. I ignored it as best I could, for as long as I could. Naturally. But, in the end, grain free.

You'd think, after giving up wheat and the other gluten-y suspects it would be a piece of cake. Gluten free cake! (Couldn't help myself. :D)

Not so much. This was…hard. HARD.

Nine months now.

AND I FEEL AMAZING.

Totally worth the lack of bake goods.

* * *

Totally boring. Buuuuut I like to play fair.

RIGHT?! :cattail:

I may never get the inversions. And even if I do, I will never be that kind of graceful, but it doesn't matter.

I can watch that video over and over.

All day long.

Oh me too. ;)

And excellent work on the health stuff! I've been trying to stick to my keto and DDP Yoga. Yoga is easy, food is a bitch. Especially this time of the year. Lol :p

I had to google DDP yoga!

And *food* will only get worse! I'm taking things into my own hands and hosting Thanksgiving. :D

Hehe yeah, after Halloween I'm buckling back down.

And DDPY is amazing. I'm a huge fan. It's helped me a lot. I'm way more flexible and I feel awesome. :)

Gah! *thunk*

This underwent alteration a month or so after inception. Something of a large project. It’s continued to evolve, complicated by the increasing addition of convoluted detail. Wearing, and something of a bitch, in more ways than one.…

However. All the detail is finally handled. (Well, okay, let’s say 90%. :p)

AND

I’ve booked a retreat in November.

ALONE

No phone. No internet. No distractions. One week. Entirely with the object of making time to get this wrapped up. Necessary. Lots of angst that would otherwise go entirely to waste!

Can’t have that. ;)

Last year in the EC we were talking tattoos. I lacked ink, but had become enamored of a particular dragon design I’d seen on Lit. My bestie and I, who usually do something together every Halloween, decided to test the waters with a henna tattoo. Both of us were just a little leery of marking up our skin in a permanent kind of way. Girlfriend ended up having a little *life* interruption. No tattoos. Someone (who shall remain nameless) called me out about not posting. I decided to post Christmas.

Ummm. Yeah, about that….

(Not really into pic posting. Nope.)

Bothered me, though. I like to do what I say. Finding a henna artist with good reviews AND who did individual appointments? Trickier than expected. Experience as follows:

- HA arrives
- HA cannot copy dragon*
- HA tries three times
- EN settles for some other design**

*In spite of previous assurances that the simple design would be “no problem”.
**Endless dislikes settled for design.

Quite the comedy of errors.

Ha. Haha. Ha. Haha. :|

I went with jagua rather than henna, as it shows more black with a blue undertone - closer in coloring to an actual tatoo. There's also a design in white (if you can see) on my left shoulder. The white is not true henna as I understand it, more in the nature of body paint mixed with glue. Surprised to say I like the white better on my skin.

I feel like I'm babbling.

So, tattoo procured. Pic going up. Won’t be up long. Twenty minutes. Tops. Maybe ten. Or even five.

Okay. So…I guess I should post. No sense dithering all day.

The most naked I will ever be on Lit. (Or anywhere else on the internet!)

Eesh.

You are wonderfully brave today, Ms. Thunker. So nice to see you. I need to add that you have lovely hair . . . and shoulders, and curves, and hips . . Oh my

The Henna? absolutely lovely work. I think I like the white better too, that's really cool. Thanks for the heads-up, and for being so brave :rose:

Signed -

Someone ;)
