Endless Ends

-They fed a mouse to a boa on camera!!!*
-"Hitman in a fur coat." 🤣
-We seem to be spending an inordinate amount of time in the morgue. 😬

Gregory Hines (the coroner) is rocking the whole one earring thing. Long an dangly at that. :p

*does not approve.

I don’t remember that happening.
Oh, it happened. a few times. The scene was sort of . . . extended. 🫣

Are you sure you weren’t watching Wolf-In (the porn parody)? 🤣
What?!?! Is this really a thing or are you messing with me? 🤣

The great part of werewolf movies is that they almost require nude scenes. 😁
That is usually women flashing their breasts.

NOT FULL FRONTAL MALE NUDITY

The 80s were a different kinda time.

Extended, huh? 🤣

I’m messing with you, but it’s probably also a thing. 👍

I remember there being An American werewolf in London werewang.
If you are going to run through the forest naked, some stuff is going to flop around. That’s just something werewolves have to deal with. 😁

Omg. I did it again, didn't I?

Why don't I catch that sort of thing. Make it stoooooop! 🤣 🤣

Noted.

I feel like there should be in-the-midst-of-transformation werewolf thongs. They could be made of fur or something. 🤔

Movie tidbit I forgot that was rather interesting.

There was a curiousreference to the "Indians" owning all the "high steel".

I look it up. Obviously. :p

Turns out the Mohawks were heavy involved in building New York's bridges. Ironworkers. They were called Skywalkers. Interesting bit of history of which I was unaware.

Not when it's a case of me being visually assaulted out of the blue while watching a movie.

Have you already forgotten about the Full Frontal Male Nudity?!?!

Because I never will. 🫣

Oh, man. 🤣
It was a werewolf movie.
They traditionally wake up nude in the woods.
That’s part of the fun of being a werewolf. 😁

There was nudity in the 80's slasher flicks ?? Why didn't someone tell me ? I was too stoic back them, as in focusing on virtue, to watch such movies.

Pershaps I can make up for that now: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls080751607/
You focused on virtue? How . . . puritanical? 🤔

Whoa. Those are some titles. 😳

I am rather surprised to find I have seen ~10 of the 44. A couple were practically unwatchable, but a few were classics: Body Heat, Dressed to Kill, Return of the Living Dead.

I've always been rathe curious about Altered States. I should watch.

Lifeforce? Space vampires in London?!?!

I AM SO IN!!!!

I am getting ready to start on Dante's Divine Comedy.

I've made a run at it a couple of times previously, but simply could not get into the style. Not sure why. Possibly because it's poetry? Poetry has never engaged me emotionally, but these last few years I've gained more of an appreciation. So . . . we shall see.

Four or five years back I picked up the three volume Dorothy Sayer's translation. (Which tells you way more than you need to know about my to-be-read pile. 😬) I am a fan of her prose, and she gets praise for her background introduction, footnotes, and maintaining Dante's terza rima scheme.

While talking to a friend, they opined Ciardi as a better introductory choice. His translation is crisp, if not at elegant, and is fifty years more recent.

THEN, someone else suggested Hollander. 🤣

*is now overwhelmed*

I don't know if you're around @Mei5ter, but as someone who appreciates Sayers and may have read one or more of these translations, do you have any thoughts?

Anyone else, feel free to chime in. 🙂

I'm looking for the most engaging read.
