Today I learned that the original Peter Pan novel is much darker than what we see on Disney.

It's started me wondering about other children's stories.

Maybe there's a reason for all this current crop of dark natured movies.

All the horror you watch and you didn’t know “children’s” stories are all based on fairly grisly “fairy” tales? They weren’t for kids originally.

A more modern example would be Alice in Wonderland.

Basically that AI delusion amplification and suicide are becoming documented.

It's from a psychiatry and psychotherapy channel. They discuss - at length, apparently - the dangers of GPTchat, along with its limitations. There is also just a lot of background information.

It's interesting to listen to experts in human behavior talk about the effects of AI on our psyches, and the potential that has to drive us as people.

Well, I don't know about the people are stupid part!! Omg.

But, there was one section where they did talk about how a version came out that users found too sycophantic, and how free versions are far more likely to . . . tell you what you want to hear, because those versions are free, and it's a driver to get people to purchase.

Well, Grimm's Fairy Tales, for sure, otherwise . . .

They’re all dark. The dark ages and the Black Death left a pretty deep impact on western society at least.

It’s pretty wacky. I read an annotated edition once that helped explain the contemporary references. Like most of the Disney movies, Disney took the fun parts and mellowed everything out to make it more appealing to children.
