Endless Ends

I could stand to let go of old fear patterns.

Because the Moon is fully opposite the Sun in Earth’s sky at this time, we see it illuminated at 100 percent, a moment that often symbolizes culmination, clarity, and emotional release in astrology . . .
I wonder if this is why I've been seeing the moon midday lately? 🤔

The farm is on six acres. It's a source of continual amazement to me how much work the property portion takes. There is always something that needs to be done. Even mid-winter. 🤷‍♀️

I"m such a suburban/city girl.

Welp. I did not manage manage to cut off the fallen tree. It was too big for the baby chainsaw and I am incapable of hefting the big one. Which means I have to ask for help. That annoys me so much!

*kicks dirt*

However, I did manage to wield the smaller one to some result in other needed areas AND also managed to do myself no injury. That latter is always touch and go considering my natural klutziness. 😂

I'm counting this as a win. 😎

First it was the leach field.

Now the well water pump.

Shades of catastrophe. 😬
We had to replace our well pump at Thanksgiving.

They will put chlorine in the well after they replace it. If I could go back in time, I'd get better directions on how to flush the chlorine. Good luck to you!

You should get better directions now then. You should chlorinate your well ever 3-4 months. I wait 30 minutes and then starting on the top floor run all the taps till it’s no longer smelling like a summer pool minus the coppertone.

All this talk of chlorination leaves me confused. They didn't chlorinate ours, nor are we supposed to do so maintenance related. Could it be a regional or water source thing?

I've never had to do anything with chlorine in mine before and our well has always tested clean.

I was only warning you because it really messed up our water for a while - caused some hair breakage and dry skin.

Oh, definitely interesting to hear about. I think putting chlorine in is called "shocking" the well. Did they say what they put it in?

Just curious.

Like always. 😂

I don't know what they put in -- They were the good ol' boys who only talked business when I wasn't around.

It's funny, our pump was around 25 years old, too. They were surprised that it was still in service. When they finished installing the new one they told my husband to be surprised if this one lasted 10 years. Yay. I think we spent $2500 to replace ours.

Don't you just love it. 🙄

I read that they usually last 8-15 years, with submersibles tending to last a little longer.

That seems to be the norm. With the low end at $2,000 and the high at $3,500, at least around here.

At least it's done and will require no further worrying. 🤷‍♀️

So yeah. I was told by the good ol’ boy plumber when we moved in to chlorinate the well quarterly. I actually do it about once a year (if that) because life and remembering that shit is beyond me (and putting it in the calendar doesn’t help because invariably something is happening that day and I’m like, yeah, not fucking with the well today).

Looking it up on google and then Reddit, it looks like once a year is good for preventive maintenance, only do it more often if your water tests show that you have an issue (more common with shallow wells).

Thanks for making me look it up. 🍌

So, texted the well guy and it turns out they did put chlorine in the well. Tablet form. It seems they do anytime the well is opened. The amount couldn't have been much as I never smelled any chlorine.

Learn something new. 🤷‍♀️

Sounds right. The good ol’ boy plumber that told me gave me a huge jar of tablets. Still using them 12 years later. Same stuff used for swimming pools.

Surprised that no one has come up with a horror movie based on monsters coming up out of the well.
