The crying and footstomping continues!

Al Gore says he'll refuse to conceed the election.

Jesse Jackson has stirred up the mobs. Who elected Jesse Jackson anyway?

The democrats want to vote again and again until they win.

Since win did it become legal to overthrow an election just because a few folks from Florida can't figure out a ballot?

Stop crying and being poor sports, It looks like Bush will win.
Better luck next time.

GORE -BUSH -GORE -BUSH

I think I rather have Fred Flinstone as president....At least he can't steal are money..........

"Better luck next time"?

If someone deliberately rigs an election, that is NOT luck. I don't know first-hand that Bush & Bush rigged the election, but it sure is starting to smell that way!

Remember Watergate? Nixon's boys trashed Muskie's campaign with the infamous Canuck Letter and other dirty political tricks, so they wouldn't have to run against Muskie, and they could run against McCarthy, a candidate they KNEW they could defeat. They leaked private communications between Daniel Ellsberg and his psychiatrist to discredit him, and by extension, all anti-Vietnam War democrats. They harassed democratic campaign rallies with stupid, petty little tricks that made Demoratic campaign rallies unpleasant places to be, and this eventually kept supporters from attending the rallies. They bugged democratic national headquarters to get dirt they could leak to the press. These guys STOLE the election, got caught, went to prison, and saw their man forced to resign. Nixon's 1972 victory was careful, deliberate, and ILLEGAL planning, luck had NOTHING to do with it. And I suspect LUCK has nothing to do with Bush's "victory" either. But unlike Nixon, he has yet to enjoy the luxury of serving half a term AFTER stealing an election.

OK, yes, careful study of the ballot would have shown they should punch the THIRD hole instead of the second for democrat. But why have a voter card that has two columns of questions and only one column of holes, questions on both sides, first hole is for left side, second hole is for right, third hole is for the left side again, and so on? The design is deliberately awkward, with the obvious INTENT to throw voters off and ensure that Gore votes would wind up in the trash and Bush would win. 19,000 discredited votes in a state where the margin betwen candidates is less than 1,000 votes? Is that LUCK? Get REAL! Here in California, you go down the column, fist question is the first hole, second question is 2nd hole, etc., get down to the bottom of the column, flip the page and start a NEW column of holes, and surprise, the first question on the new page aligns to the first hole, and so on. Punch-punch-punch, no confusion, done in seconds, get out of line and let the next voter punch, and no worry that you could possibly have voted wrong. If California could do it, why couldn't Florida? Oh wait, then the Florida gov's brother might have LOST!

It is not a matter of luck, it is deliberate hijacking of the election by a spoiled rich white man who wants more than anything to be president just like his daddy was! We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all rich southern white men are created equal.

Then again, Gore is also a rich southern white man. But he at least can form a coherent sentence, and my contacts in the financial industry feel that real estate, stock markets, and the general economy will fare better under a Gore presidency than under Bush. The economy is the main reason I have supported Gore, otherwise I really don't care all that much for either candidate.

True Gore does seem to spend alot of time making complete sentences.
Too bad that he seems to have a hard time telling the truth. See http://www.algore-2000.org for examples of his lies.

So you don't like Bush? So should we just keep recounting the vote until your guy wins?

I'm not convinced there's a conspiracy here yet, though I DO suspect Patryn designed the Florida ballots.

Johnny Ringo, you haven't given this really enough thought now, have you? Try reading all the little tiny words underenath the headlines.

There is legal precedent in Florida regarding a challenge to a confusing ballot; it states that the time to challenge is before the election. Everyone is supposed to receive a sample ballot, and if they can't understand it, they are supposed to protest at that time. After the election is too late.

If someone messes up a ballot during voting, it is very simple to go to the election workers and tell them; they take the ballot, void it, and issue a clean one. If you realize you goofed after the ballot is in the box, you are SOL -- how would they know which is yours?

In short, after all the recounts are finished, and all the hoopla, the results will be in stone. It would be nice if everyone stopped whining about all this and moved on, but I fear the soap opera will be with us well into 2001.

I dunno about Florida, but I hear each of Patryn's various identities (including ALL of the Troll names that she's used) voted for Gore in Wisconsin... The margin there was ONLY 5,600 votes... I'm sure there's more of her than that, but we'll have to wait for Deborah to give us the scoop on just how many of her there are.

Thank you, Johnny, but facts are facts. Neither candidate has done much to raise the confidence of the electorate, which is very sad. I predict a very rocky term ahead for the "winner."

I suspect that, after the dust settles, the "loser" is going to be very happy.

Now you guys see why I had such a hard time choosing a candidate. I don't even care who wins anymore at this point. I think it was already pointed out somewhere on the board that the country will still be run by big industry. Maybe this will teach the media to shut the hell up in the future. On second thought... I doubt it.

"Supposed to receive"...I heard today that a woman just received her sample ballot today! As for the dem. election officials reviewing the ballot and approving it, it's hard to realize what might be confusing to someone if you understand it yourself. Look how many things get messed up here when the writer thinks what they said was perfectly clear.

And Daly is screaming the loudest that the ballots are confusing. Well the EXACT SAME BALLOT IS USED IN COOK COUNTY IL., Daly's home county, and the place where he cast his vote. Why wasn't it confusing there/then?

CL didn't mention that the sample ballots are also printed in the paper a minimum of two weeks before the election to insure that as many people as possible will have a chance to object.

Florida has been using the same machines for at least 20 years. (I was stationed there when they started using them.) Most of the voters had used them before. Voters in other states used them with no fuss and bother (many with similar ballots and percentages of disqualified ballots.)

You make a good point that the flaws in such a ballot may not be obvious until you actually try to use it.

The ballot was modified with a larger type face because of objections to the small print on previous ballots. The alternating sides became necessary to align the larger print with the holes in an IBM format punch card which CANNOT be moved because the ballot positions are determined at the State level. In order to fit large print next to a series of holes one-quarter inch apart, something needs to be done to keep things lined up.

The voters in Palm Beach County got the large print they asked for in the only way possible to line it up with the punch card.

Well the 2nd count is finished.

George Bush won Florida. Has Al Gore conceeded? Nope.

Shall we keep counting till he wins?

Al Gore is a power freak bent on world domination.
He is a dangerous man.

Do you have anything to back this up JR? Seems like an awful lot of pissing and moaning considering that it appears that your idol won. What difference does a day or two matter? or even a week or two? Isn't insuring the process was fair AND completed worth the wait? Or are you so insecure with the slim margin of just over 200 votes that you are really afraid Gore will win with the absentee ballots count ? Nothing will be certified UNTIL all of the absentee ballots are counted,,, and we are still well within that window before the deadline.

There was NO landslide vote this go round,,, a concession speech may be warrented in the case of an obvious winner,,, but that just isn't the case this year

Sorry fella,,, but I have no patience with folks that simply toss out pharses like you do with nothing to back them up nor even anything to distinguish one canditate from the other. If you think that Bush isn't power hungrey, then you need a reality check. As for Gore wanting to dominate the world, this isn't the old Soviet Union in their days of grandour and hopes of world conquest.

So,,, get a grip,,, relax a little,,,

That would be the 3rd count Celestial.
Perhaps you need a 4th count if Gore still loses?
Or perhaps just have a new election and keep voting until King Al gets his precious victory?

In every election I can remember the winner was declared after the first count.

Granted, there is still the absentee ballots. But we have those every election. Never waited till next week before, why now?

Should we let a judge decide? I think not.

You read the small print!

OOOOH GEEE! Seems I made CW mad.

I have backed it up, read the threads.
Read the newspapers, watch the TV. Read the constitution.

Funny, if someone says off the wall things about Bush. No one responds.
I've seen him called an idiot in these threads.

Call Gore something and a few folks come unglued.

Your guy seems to have lost the election. Get over it.

And I'll mouth off if I want.
Seems you mouthed off over 800 times. Thats what make you a guru.

Can't you debate without getting personal? Does not look like you can. Go ahead and call me some names. It will make you feel superior!
