My choice for voting/poll watching music?

Has to be "Anarchy in the UK."

What about the rest of you lot?

Sigh, I love XTC!

I was listening to 'Fortunate Son' by Credence Clearwater Revival earlier.

Now I'm listening to Arcadia's 'Election Day', just for grins.

The entire album of Rage Against The Machine's self titled first album. I LOVE RATM.

Phil Ochs. Why did you leave us.

Come, get out of the way, boys
Quick, get out of the way
You'd better watch what you say, boys
Better watch what you say
We've rammed in your harbor and tied to your port
And our pistols are hungry and our tempers are short
So bring your daughters around to the port
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World

We pick and choose as please, boys
Pick and choose as please
You'd best get down on your knees, boys
Best get down on your knees
We're hairy and horny and ready to shack
We don't care if you're yellow or black
Just take off your clothes and lie down on your back
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World

Our boots are needing a shine, boys
Boots are needing a shine
But our Coca-cola is fine, boys
Coca-cola is fine
We've got to protect all our citizens fair
So we'll send a battalion for everyone there
And maybe we'll leave in a couple of years
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World

Dump the reds in a pile, boys
Dump the reds in a pile
You'd better wipe of that smile, boys
Better wipe off that smile
We'll spit through the streets of the cities we wreck
We'll find you a leader that you can't elect
Those treaties we sighned were a pain in the neck
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World

Clean the johns with a rag, boys
Clean the johns with a rag
If you like you can use your flag, boys
If you like you can use your flag
We've got too much money we're looking for toys
And guns will be guns and boys will be boys
But we'll gladly pay for all we destroy
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World

Please stay off of the grass, boys
Please stay off of the grass
Here's a kick in the ass, boys
Here's a kick in the ass
We'll smash down your doors, we don't bother to knock
We've done it before, so why all the shock?
We're the biggest and toughest kids on the block
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World

When we butchered your son, boys
When we butchered your son
Have a stick of our gum, boys
Have a stick of our buble-gum
We own half the world, oh say can you see
The name for our profits is democracy
So, like it or not, you will have to be free
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World

That song is still so fucking timely. :)

Sometimes I wish Phil hadn't shot himself; and other times, I think he did the right thing. How could he live in this world, when all his songs are relevant again.

I forgot about Bad Religion!

You Are (The Government)
hey, sit down and listen and they'll tell you when you're wrong
eradicate but vindicate as "progress" creeps along
puritan work ethic maintains its subconscious edge
as old glory maintains your consciousness

there's a loser in the house and a puppet on a stool
and a crowded way of life and a black reflecting pool
and as the people bend the moral fabric dies
then country can't pretend to ignore its peoples' cries

you are the government
you are jurisprudence
you are the volition
you are jurisdiction
and I make a difference too

I'm a sucker for the old stuff. How about Dead Kennedys, "Stars and Stripes of Corruption?"

Damn, I'm drunk. It's amazing how many tries it took me to type Kenndi ... kennd .. them things.

At this moment my choice would be the fucking funeral march.

But, this year has been Green Day "American Idiot" and Eminem "Mosh."

Good Choice, Cops Of the World!

When I'm Gone has been running through my head on and off for the past year, but for some strange reason American Pie has been dogging me today. Strange, because I could never truly figure out what, if anything, McLean was getting at.

BTW: Phil Ochs did not shoot himself.

There is a nice tribute to Phil Ochs that some of you might wish to read.

Right. Hung himself with his own belt, it's been years since I read his biog. Thanks, love.

Yes, When I'm Gone resonates always. "Can't live free enough to die when I'm gone, so I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here." Do you know Another Age?

American Pie is supposedly about the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly. What he was getting at in that interminable song, I will never know.

Blowin' In The Wind

How many roads most a man walk down
Before you call him a man ?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand ?
Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned ?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Yes, how many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea ?
Yes, how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free ?
Yes, how many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn't see ?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Yes, how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky ?
Yes, how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry ?
Yes, how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died ?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
