On few subjects: educted
On a general, broad scale: intelligent
Not often: both
sometimes: neither

I had to go with intelligent. I feel undereducated.

Somedays, it's neither.

well i am an uneducated self educated intelligent stupid person

without meaning to be arrogant i do feel i am intelligent but i know i can also be stupid about something's ... i don't see how anyone could have a decent self image of themselves without feeling they were intelligent

im uneducated because part of my education was disrupted because of illness so i had to educate myself to keep up ... then for reasons i didn't/couldn't go to college after school and i like to think i have tried to keep educating myself

I am not only hugely well-educated, I am also one of those geeks with the high IQ. So, why do I often feel so damned stupid?

I chose both.

Assuming that by education you mean traditional - I have a Master's degree - but there are all sorts of educations not all involving schooling.

And... there are all sorts of intelligence. I assume you mean the more traditional cerebral type and I do believe I have that as well.

Among other there is also emotional intelligence and I'm not sure I always have that, unfortunately.

And you completely forgot WISDOM - which is a category unto itself - one can be both educated and intelligent yet not be wise in any way, shape or form.

I think of myself as slightly above average intelligence, about average with regards to education (I have two 2 year degrees) - but wiser than most people. I know a lot of people who have a lot more education than I do, I know quite a number that are demonstratably more intelligent, but most people I know are not as wise.

That may sound like bragging (my comments on my wisdom), and maybe it is - but that is the way I view myself.

I've found in life, it helps to appear far less intelligent than you actually are. It can be an advantage, when the suits first impression, is just of a hick. :)

I feel like I'm more educated than intelligent.

I'm intelligent when it comes to certain things, but unintelligent when it comes to others.

I say educated and intelligent but with room for growth on both points...always.

that's so funny, I have two, two year degrees too, and I feel undereducated.

Perspective is such a weird thing.

Dillinger, interesting point about wisdom. But I think assesing one's own wisdom is far more difficult than gauging one's own opinion of one's own education or intelligence. (The construction of the previous sentence was enjoyable)

Intelligent. Always educating myself in some way or another, that should never stop.

I'm not "educated" in the traditional sense, but do consider myself somewhat intelligent.

Mostly, tho, I think I'm SMART - able to figure out things, find solutions, pick up stuff quickly. I'm self-confident about what I DO know, and willing to admit when I DON'T know or understand something.

You may be correct - at least for most people, and more so with regards to people thinking they are more wise than they really are. However, the way I gauge my wisdom is by whether I am consistent, rational and self-aware. Most people believe themselves to be right about many issues and therefore believe themselves to be wise - but most people don't know why they are right or wrong, they just feel they are.

One criteria I use to detect whether a person is wise or not - is by whether they believe their own bullshit, or whether they are constantly questioning their logic and the conclusions they arrive at in their search for the truth. I try to do the latter, and it helps me become more confident that I have actually found the truth.

I was using the criteria that the average level of education in the USA seems to be somewhere between 1-4 years of college education, maybe even less.

I do feel undereducated, but I think it is just the company I keep. Most of the people I work with have at least a 4 year degree, many have their masters or even a PHD, and both my brothers have 4 year degrees. However, I think those levels of education are somewhat above average overall.

I can agree with you about the company. It seems I run in several circles a collegiate circle, and a tech circle. The culinary side is completely esoterica and educated in a way that most people aren't. The arts side is completely different, I'm looking into finishing that bachelors degree, and getting involved with the humanities community again.

It's difficult to find a balance between the two, but the education is there on both sides.

I just crave more, and thus the feeling of being uneducated.

Intelligence........

From monkeys to humans, isn't it a measure of success in living day to day? Are we comparing intelligence to a job profile, something you do as opposed to who you are? I have observed engineers of high intelligence that couldn't tie a pair of shoes if they had to, but know mechanics that can improvise anything into a useful, working machine.
I guess one person's intelligence, is another person's imbecile. :D

There are various types of inteligence, although people just assume that the conceptual kind is the only kind that counts.

I'm fairly educated but I really hope that I'm more intelligent than educated. You can't know everything, but intelligence helps you out of scrapes when needed.

I'm hardly ever both and usually neither. :D

Educated in the traditional sense? somewhat. I think my formal education only really gave me the tools to learn in the school of life. Somedays, I don't even get a passing grade at that, though.

Intelligent? I question my own. Courage and passion can often give the appearance of intelligence...even madness. Cervantes' Don Q. is my hero.

Self-image? This is where it all gels, I suppose. Do I allow external messages to overide the inner voice? I admit, that it's a challenge. I recently read a quote (in those ads before a movie at the theater)by Alan Alda. It went like so:
Listening is the willingness to allow another's words to change you.

I think that the challenge with self-image is to balance listening to the messages of your friends and enemies and, listening to the voice of the inner blueprint. I think a healthy self-image is reality based, and is not just being your own personal cheerleader.

I consider myself very intelligent, but I don't have a college diploma or anything, so I am not "educated" perse
