Editors, I need your help

Hello editors,

I am about to embark on a big writing project – at least big for me. I have started the first part of the project; a six-part story about a writer’s workshop. From there, I have plans (dreams) of off-shoot short stories and novellas and . . . well, it’s a long-term plan.

I don’t know if this is done – I’m still very new to all of this – but I would really like to find an editor (or two) who would be willing to jump on board and begin a working relationship where we could grow to trust each other. I don’t really relish the idea of searching for a new, strange editor each time I finish another chapter. It’s tough to trust advice from someone you don’t know. I want to get to know my editor(s).

This may be unorthodox and if I am making an ass of myself I guess I’ll have to deal with that.

What I am looking for:

1.Someone interested in developing the type of long-term relationship described above. (I know this would not interest every VE)

2.An editor who is willing to proof and critique; word choice, character development, general feel of the story.

3.A woman’s perspective would be great but not completely necessary. Maybe I could find a man and a woman to work with me.

What an editor can expect from me:

1.A writer who is open-minded and willing to work hard to improve his writing.

2.I will pour over my stories for weeks before submitting any work for review. I hope that most of the minor problems will have been worked out.

3.I plan to produce about a story (or chapter) per month, maybe two occasionally.

4.My stories will run the gambit of categories: Erotic Couplings, First Time, Group Sex, Humor, Lesbian, Romance, Novellas, Masturbation.

5.If you are comfortable putting your name on my story, I will sing your praises and send you gushing e-mails.

I’ve either done a great job of selling myself or I’ve come across as a jerk. I promise, I’m not really a jerk; perhaps just a real Literotica virgin without a clue.

Feel free to check out the two stories I have posted thus far to give you a feel for my writing style.

Problem?

I know I just posted but I just checked out my newest story on the site. The first time I go to the story, it stops at one page. When I back out and try again, I get all four pages. I closed down and tried again and got the same result. I was tipped off to this by a PM from a reader who trashed my story because he hate "half-stories".

What do I do?

Hmm.
I've noticed some of the stories I've editted have the same issue.
Must be something going on with the site itself.

The site has been a little unstable today. The same thing happened right at the beginning of the Valentine's Day contest as well. There must be behind the scenes work going on that's causing hiccups everywhere.

Covered - maybe?

I sort of ambushed AsylumSeeker for the first part of my story (thanks AS). Don't know what will happen next but I wanted to let potential VE's know.

Man, so it was you who got to him before me. Hope it works out well for you two.

WOW, He's Damn Good!

When I saw the size of it I nearly fainted (the story that is!) He has real talent and the story is terriffic! Got 30 pages edited in just a few sittings and all in one day it was that good. Very few mistakes, too, also a plus. So I'd encourage any and all editors to chime in when he needs a set of eyes for a new chapter (unless I get to keep him all to myself!)

Thank you

I just wanted to publicly thank AsylumSeeker for his time and insight. Writers, if you ever get the chance to submit work to him, take it. He is very easy to work with. Readers will not notice the subtle changes he suggested but I do. He helped make my story better without changing losing my voice.

And thank you for the kind words AS. The story is submitted and awaiting approval. I hope it makes you proud.

I sincerely hope a story of such high quality doesn't get lost in the endless lists of story titles. If you feel it is let me know and I'll do all I can do drum up support because it is most deserving of attention.

I'm a decent editor that has grown over the past three years on account of the patient direction and assistance of others like LadyC, CopyCarver, White Wave 48 and SR71 to name a few. So I'll accept the compliment on behalf of all of the editors at Lit who spend countless hours volunteering their services, and who I in turn thank.

<Hoping this doesn't sound too sappy>
