I have 50 plus stories to be submitted as I get an editor to work. No rush just want to finely get these stories published.

All stories have been computer spell-grammar checked. Some are multiple chapter stories, some are stand alone. Topics vary.

Some have been edited by a human but NOT from Literotica thus submission was rejected. I have put this request out before and did not find an editor. I have been writing for over ten years now.
Thank you in advance

Jax

Yes, we'd all like to get our work "finely" published. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

You'd get more interest if you identified the genre range of the stories. (Must say, though, that the prospect of devoting their lives to editing 50 stories or more for someone else for free will probably appeal to a very small number of folks, especially if you don't have some posted here already for an editor to read and fall in love with.)

Rejections

Literotica does not reject stories just because they do not have a Literotica editor listed.

There is some particular reason related to their guidelines and they usually specify what reason.

For example if you have characters under 18, or snuff scenes, or anything else on their list, no editor is going to be any help. They are just not allowed.

If the reason given is spelling, punctuation, etc., then editing 50 stories is not going to happen. If you did not learn from a previous editor and just cranked out 50 ungrammatical stories it is too big a job for human volunteers.

Why not tell us a bit more?

So the OP needs volunteers who are not human?

Miscommunication

First off
I said in the OP that there is a variety of categories. What I should have said was That is part of what I need help with. I did not write these stories for Literotica nor do I know what all the categories are SPECIFICALLY or what my stories fall under. I have read the info for writers and somehow FUCKED UP.

Most of my stories are MF MFF all are consensual, few are bisexual male and or female. There are several multi part stories where characters continue and partners change. A good number are Motorcycle theme related if that matters.

Secondly
I had hoped to find an editor who could be more of a friendly guide and then possibly an editor.it would seem that is not the way this works. I do not normally post on message boards so I am sorry If I have come to the wrong place. Peace be with you all and have fun!

Peace out. But you might check back occasionally. There may be someone who wants to take that on.

Message board etiquette

You know, message boards are tricky places. They sometimes seem to acquire an ambiance of their own, and newbs can sometimes unwittingly offend.

On a board you can only be known by what you post. If your words are brusque or assumptive, that is the way you will be perceived.

It seems from the short time I have been on this board that many editors are fairly selective about what they will take on. Thus they ask what genre your stories fall in. Someone who leaves that out will frequently get the same kind of sharp reply you did, so it was not personal or directed just at you.

The further information you supplied helped. Stick around, you will find a lot of editors who try to be helpful. Even those you took as sharp were really trying to give you good advice.

I think it's more the cluelessness of being unable to understand the effort--for free--that is entailed in the commitment of editing time for 50 stories of unknown content. A sense of understanding of the magnitude of what is being expected in commitment from another would be better shown by at least some "I know what I'm asking you to do" foreplay.

The best way to approach that, I think, is to ask for an edit of one story depicted as a fresh and interesting approach to a specific genre and try to get an editor to love that story--and with working with you.

What I found offputting with the OP was the apparent failure to understand the magnitude of free service being asked for coupled with no effort to engage an editor with why the editor would enjoy doing all of this work (usually shown by an engaging approach by the author, revealing of content that would be interesting to an individual editor, and sense of manageable proportion--as in a contained sample with no promises of ongoing work).

Editing here is time-consuming work without pay. The "pay" has to come in some other form, and what is being asked needs to be manageable.

I see no problem with editing fifty stories. Do you have a year? If you don't mind having to have patience, send me a message andi will send my e-mail and we can start. One at a time!

Done

This thread can close anytime for I am no longer interested in an editor on Literotica. I've decided not to even attempt to publish here or anywhere for that matter. This thread has convinced me it isn't worth it. I don't need this I wanted it.

As for volunteering, I understand the time it takes as I am a Volunteer Fire fighter, first responder and don't even get $ for fuel let alone the time involved in training, maintenance and then response to the worst day of most peoples' lives. I am also a disabled from Military service veteran. SO I Understand the benefits and the heart break of being a Volunteer.

Thank you

Thank you but I have changed my mind. The time frame was unimportant to me as I just wanted to share my stories. I have been writing for over 15 yrs and thought this would be a good thing.

Thank you for your offer.

Well, I do appreciate the validation of the vibe I got from your OP posting. Best of luck in your relationships in whatever publishing you do.

I won't be publishing anything anywhere now. The Internet just isn't for me.

Dissatisfaction

Well, I actually contacted this guy and offered to look at his story.

He sent it to me and it needed a whole lot of editing.

The paragraphs were very long and blocky, and it had a lot of dialog which was not at all properly structured.

I took one paragraph, broke it down into smaller ones with comments about why.

I took one section of dialog and demonstrated how to punctuate it properly, and referred him to the Writer's Resources page.

I told him if he took care of those two glaring problems I would be happy to edit his story after that.

No reply from him to me, but the postings you see here appeared.

I think he is absolutely right, Literotica at least is not for him.

Thanks for the followup. Hope you get thanks for the effort you put into it.

I never received any message from you and frankly thought you were just blowing me off.

I just won't get to be published that's Ok.

This is bullshit. You don't take an author's story and then publicize your communications to him/her and then state Literotica is obviously not for them.

So are you going to post what you do for every author?

Thank you

My Lady:

My most gracious thanks for your kind and gentle comments. Such a polite note is a great help to a fairly new editor. I am so glad you took the time to give me your subtle thoughts on the fine points of etiquette. It is a pleasure to be instructed by such a noble lady.

Note: I did not start this thread. I responded to it privately, and replied within 24 hours of receiving his story. I did not "blow him off."

Then he posted publicly saying

I won't be publishing anything anywhere now. The Internet just isn't for me.

So I simply agreed with his statement.

If you don't like it ... please refer to the first three words of your post quoted above.

You are most welcome. And I believe pleasure was had by both of us. :) Look, correct me I'm wrong, but I believe it was you who brought up the issue of trust the other day, or at least made comments relating to trust. If you want to build trust with authors, you don't do what you did on a public thread. Now, if an editor wants to speak generally about an author or authors, that's one thing.

Of course, you're entitled to disagree.

:rose:

Ah, and mutual pleasure is what Literotica is all about, isn't it?

Well, sure, if you include a little sparring on the Editor's Forum. It happens from time to time, although I do try to keep it to a minimum. I did dedicate a song a while back to my favorite sparring editor: Pilot. :)
