Noob here. Hey just a quick question.

The volunteer editor I used was great but wasn't given credit for helping me. I made a note of it in my comments when I submitted a story. Is there any way to edit this so they get acknowledged for the help given?

Thanks

You can send an edit, yes. The submission FAQs cover this. But are you sure that the editor wants to be credited? The Literotica system is not the normal system. The publisher/editor is not the last one to have the manuscript in hand. The author is, and the author can change anything/everything and not accept edits before submitting. Under these circumstances, I--and probably other editors--don't want to be identified as the story editor. In fact, I see stories in the file where an editor has been named, and the story is in terrible shape. Maybe that wasn't the named editor's fault.

Maybe your editor does want credit, but don't assume this is the case without verifying it.

Thank you SR! I prefer not to be mentioned for that very reason myself.

Also, remember the site doesn't add anything to your story. It is posted, or not. And they have no way of knowing who your editor is. The VEs aren't vetted or tracked by the site. So if you want to give credit, you'll have to do it yourself in an author's note. However, before you do that, I go with the others who have said to check with your editor and make sure they want credit, because many don't.

The thing saying to "list your editor here" in the notes section instruction text is some leftover vestiges of the largely defunct Volunteer Editor program.

If you want to credit your editor to the public, you have to add the credit as an author's note in the story text itself.

And as SR said, make sure the editor wants credit before you do :)
